The upper pocket is the perfect size for wallet, keys, first aid essentials, and a couple of bars. The water bottle pockets on the outside are stretchy and large and work great in place of a stash pocket for hats and gloves. The main compartment seems large for a 22 liter bag, probably because it isn't broken up by internal pockets. I was able to put my sweater and other warm layers inside for a recent snowy day hike and still have room for lunch and an insulated bottle. The construction is lightweight, but distributed the load really well. I also like the construction of the included bladder with a wide mouth for filling and cleaning and a secure attachment for hanging it from a loop like the one included in the pack, but also for other packs. Having used it once I'm looking forward to using it a lot more.
Haven't used it yet but looks durable. Osprey does not include directions on how to fill the bladder, which is incredibly short-sighted. It is NOT an intuitive process, so if you're new to these things, you'll need to look it up on YouTube.
I was going on a two-day hike on the Pacific Crest Trail, and needed something more practical than my work backpack. The Skarab seemed like a reasonable deal, so I went for it. Delivery went well enough - timely, box not ridiculously large, and so forth. As for the backpack itself, it is roomy and comfortable enough, and a good way to limit the weight. I did find myself frustrated with the hydration pack, and have disabled it.
Comfortable pack to wear. The hip belt is not much use to me until I lose a few pounds. But that's why I got the pack anyways. 2.5 liter hydration pack is nice. Having two spots for water bottles is also nice. Look forward to taking it on the trail for a day.
