This weekend I set up my new, 2024 Nemo Aurora 2P tent in the backyard! The tent looks very pretty, feels very roomy and looks well-made. Very good ventilation, with all the mesh in the tent body, as well as two venting openings on the rainfly. Very easy intuitive setup. The weather was chilly (for Florida) and windy. The tent held up well to the windy conditions. I suppose the 5th star will be issued on my next review... when I see how it does in the rain! The folks at REI were very helpful (I called the flagship store in Denver and also inquired in the question thread below). They answered my "zipper" question before I purchased this tent. So glad Nemo added the 2nd zipper on each door flap! Love the roomy gear storage area under the rainfly. I have attached some photos. So far very happy with this purchase.
So I got this tent through Nemo and absolutely love it for what it is…….a quality campsite or weekend backcountry tent. Yes it is a bit heavy and would not be my first choice for heading to Katahdin but getting lost for a day or two with some whiskey….perfect. The tent itself is built solid. It has plenty of space for two or maybe three depending on your lifestyle. The vestibules are a good size as well. The interior pockets are where you would want them to be. The included ground sheet is just an added plus in my eyes. They also did good with balancing the mesh to tent tub ratio it’s not to much mesh that it’s just a bug net but really does well in a good storm…I can say that in confidence when I was at Big Meadows last summer. Overall this is a great tent for those looking to just get into the game or looking for the perfect weekend tent. You can’t beat the price point coming from a name like Nemo too. My one downside and this is just me complaining about something….the single zipper. I think the new version corrected this but not big enough for me to pass up.
I used the Aurora for a full week during a hot and humid summer camp in Japan, and it held up great. It definitely got a bit warm inside with the rain fly on (we had to keep it on for coed camping at scout camp), but without it, it definitely would’ve been much cooler. The build quality is impressive, especially the rain fly, which feels thick and durable (in a good way). We didn’t get any rain, but I’m confident it would handle a storm well. It was roomy and comfortable, with plenty of space to move around and store gear. The vestibules created by the rain fly provide additional usable space. Overall, it’s a solid summer tent I’d happily use again.
I bought this tent to replace my old one tent. This is my first time purchasing a tent by Nemo. I can truly say I am impressed! The blue color is beautiful, super easy to set up, and feels very roomy inside! I am 5’5” and my boyfriend is 6’1”. We both have room at our feet for extra gear we keep inside and we love that it fits both of our extra wide and his extra long pad! Holds up pretty well in the wind at about 17 mph gusts and no water leaked through when it was pouring rain. We absolutely love our new Nemo Aura 2 tent!
NOT BUG PROOF NETTING.. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT AND MISERABLE COUPLE OF NIGHTS IN ALASKA TRYING TO GO TO SLEEP AT NIGHT WHILE WATCHING THE SMALL BUT MIGHTY BITING BUG WORK ITS WAY THRU THE NETTING. MY FOREHEAD ANS AND HANDS WERE TOTALLY BITTEN UP . WILL BE RETURNING, OTHERWISE REALLY LIKES THE TENT BUT NOT ACCEPTABLE.
After much research, I decided to buy this tent. First time I used, I was amazed by it's size. It's so roomy. I could fit so much inside. And it was easy to set up. However, I was surprised how the net material felt a little cheap, for such a well known brand.First time went well. The second night I was hit by a wind storm so strong that capsized the tent with me, my dog, and all my stuff inside, tossing us onto the bushes. The tent was attached to poles and two rocks, and yet, couldn't resist the wind. After the wind calmed down, the tent was pretty damaged. So many tears and rips. I'm sending the tent to Nemo to see if they can repair it and hope they can. I really like the space in it.
NOT BUG PROOF! We wanted room to fit with our dog on Canadian canoe expeditions. We were losing our minds trying to fall asleep one night when we realized they were getting through the mesh and there would be no escape. Also didn't like that you couldn't choose which side of the door to stake and which to open.
I love the tent and it fits me and my gf perfectly. I’m a pretty big guy at 6’4 and I can sit perfectly inside without hitting my head in the top. Everything seems well made it’s just that the whole package is a little on the heavy side.
This tent offers impressive spaciousness, and its durable material provides a sturdier construction compared to traditional backpacking tents. While the zipper requires some adjustment, the door design enhances accessibility. Setting up the tent initially posed a challenge, as I am accustomed to the Jake’s foot system. Upon reviewing the instructions, I found myself wishing it followed that more intuitive setup method.
I love how roomy this tent is, and the material is more heavy duty than a backpacking tent. The zipper is a bit of getting used to but the door opening is very nice. Tent setup was a head scratcher as I am used to the Jake's foot style. Rereading the instructions, I wish this was a Jake's foot style setup, which is much more intuitive.
