Comfortable and seem stable

I was excited to try these. I wear trail runners & hiking shoes for daily and distance walking when on decent to moderately decent trails and paths, as well as paved surfaces. The On shoes I’ve tried are too soft for me and didn’t offer the support I need. These Cloud Horizon hiking shoes feel stable and give the right amount of cushion, without being mushy. Changed out the insole for the Superfeet HIKE insole (from my Keen hiking shoes) after my first walk in these. The stock insole has little arch support, so my feet felt fatigued after only 1.5 mi. Instant difference with a good insole. I wear a 9.5 (women’s) in most shoes and size up in some hiking shoes and trail runners for more toe room. The Ons run small, so I sized up to a 10. I’ve read they can be narrow, but the Cloud Horizon is plenty roomy for my wide-ish feet. The true test will be distance walking in the UK in May, where I expect to be walking off-road 7-12 mi/day for a week. Not thrilled about the color, but that’s never stopped me before.

Comfortable but squeaked terribly

The good: These shoes are super comfortable. The waterproofing worked really well for the time I had them (6 weeks). I was able to walk up to 10 miles a day with no break in issues and no problem spots. The bad: Ridiculously loud sole squeaks started on both shoes within a week. I put a lot of miles on my shoes as a dog walker. I don’t mind paying a premium for good shoes. However I don’t want them to be annoyingly loud with every step I take. I googled this shoe and found I wasn’t the only one with this problem. I tried what was recommended by others - take a nail file and scuff up the inside of the “pockets” under the heel. I did that twice and couldn’t get them to stop squeaking. So I made the choice to return them. On knows this is an issue and hasn’t yet fixed it. Not all the shoes have the issue, and maybe I was just one of the unlucky few. But for the price it shouldn’t happen at all. (And regarding weight - I’m 115 pounds so not putting undue pressure on the soles/air pockets.) The other major negative was sole wear. I had them 6 weeks and already had worn off some of the tread in certain areas. Granted these are considered hikers and I wore them mostly on paved surfaces. But finding waterproof shoes is difficult in road shoes / walking shoes, so I’ll probably have to go back to Vibram soled waterproof hikers for better longevity.

Excellent support and grip, perfect for daily use

I am honestly surprised at how comfortable these shoes are. I am used to zero drop wide toe box shoes, or barefoot sandals. However, I've been dealing with heel spurs which led me to try a highly cushioned shoe, and so far, these are great! The shape oh the support is taking me a while to get comfortable with, but they feel excellent. The grip is good enough for slippery wet surfaces, but the sole is not as flexible as I'd prefer. This makes them more suitable for basic trail walking without much incline or uneven surfaces. Although, the support and grip could easily handle mist terrains. I usually wear a 9 or 9.5 in US women's, and I got the 9.5 which fit well. They are a little roomy, which I prefer so my toes can still move a bit. The only foreseeable pitfall is that they are heavy and bulky. Although they won't be my go-to travel shoes for this reason, they are perfect for daily walks and adventures.

delivered used shoes

the delivered shoes were used! I was happy to see the shoes wereon sale, therefore I immediately bought them online and unfortunately when I received the items, it is very easy to notice that those pair of shoes were worn. Buying online should be an easier transaction too and they should have not delivered used or maybe a display stock!

Perfect amount of support

Let me start by saying I am 7 months pregnant, so I am VERY picky when it comes to shoes! I’ve only owned hiking boots, and have never had “hiking shoes,” so I wasn’t sure how these would hold up. I am very impressed! These shoes provide the perfect amount of support, while also naturally propelling your foot forward similar to a hiking boot. I was initially worried about the lack of ankle support, but after multiple hikes, my feet didn’t fatigue the same way they would in a normal shoe. Pros- 1. Great arch support and my feet felt naturally pushed forward. 2. The base of the shoe is incredibly thick and grips well. I used these on a wide variety of terrain and didn’t have any slipping. 3. 100% WATERPROOF! I walked through a partially frozen stream for a good portion of our hike, and my socks stayed completely dry. Cons- My only con is that the shoelaces feel surprisingly cheap and flimsy. For how tough the shoe is, I would have expected a thicker lace. I will probably replace the laces soon.

Surprisingly great !

On Cloud is a new brand to me. I was very impressed with these hiking shoes right out of the box. Super comfy, no break in period. Walked/hiked 50 miles in 5 days and they were awesome. Great cushion, runs slightly wide, toe box roomy, comparable to an Ultra. These keep your fit dry and comfy even in wet conditions. Run true to size. I used to only wear Ultra hiking/ running shoes I will for sure be purchasing more On Cloud.

These waterproof walking shoes will keep you dry.

I waited for a rainy day to test these shoes to assess the waterproofing. Of course, in the normally soggy Pacific NW, we had a dry, sunny spell! Today was a tiny bit of rain, so I went for a walk and I even dunked the forefront of the shoe in a pond and watched the water bead up and roll off the shoe. If you need a shoe for rainy days this one will keep your feet dry. Comfort is good, it looks a little clunky to my eye, but I do like the subdued colors. I ordered up a half size because I’d be wearing a thicker sock with these. Half size up was a perfect fit for me.

Best to try on in-store!

I soooooo wanted to love these.... I've worn Merrells and Salomon for years and wanted to try something new -- especially a shoe that would go directly from the trail to the street. The On shoes attracted me because they are basically a dress shoe for the trail: very lightweight fabric, high thread count so finely woven, stitching that is either hidden or nonexistent... so a totally clean look and feel. The colorways are not my favorite, kind of bland, but I did want to try for fit. First I ordered the On Cloudvista 2, not really wanting a running shoe but not knowing how On fit in general and hoping a running shoe might work. The Cloudvista fit was close-fitting (not too snug) but was too papery in feel for my taste and I realized it didn't have a pull tab at the heel, which was a deal breaker for me. Then I ordered the On Cloudvista 2 which I think is the non-waterproof version of this shoe, the Cloudhorizon. Again, that shoe fit pretty nicely but it just wasn't enough "trail" for me, so I sent it back and headed to the store to see all of the shoes in person. This shoe, the Cloudhorizon Waterproof, has more interest to it and I liked it right away. The sole is tall and has a tendency to propel you forward and is kind of bouncy and energetic. If you need to feel stable and firm all the time, this will not give you that feel. The only immediate concerns for me were the laces, as they are kind of delicate, dress-shoe thickness laces and I'm hard on laces... In store the shoe felt great. I went late in the day when I thought my feet would be the biggest, and felt like I got a good fit. I got home and wore the pair around again and they still felt great. The next day, after wearing them for about two hours outdoors, my ankles started to get sore. I realized the corners of the shoe opening (where the lacing starts) were poking into the skin below my ankle bones. I thought maybe I had bought a size too small, so I tried thinner socks but that seemed to make the issue worse. Then I realized that the ankle opening has a curvature that is slightly shorter and more abrupt at the front than the curvature on my other shoes. When I compare to one of my Merrells, for example, the edge of the laces opening cuts up into my ankle whereas the Merrell is slightly lower and flatter. Also, the Merrell is soft and spongy at the ankle whereas the On has a very hard, fused-plastic feel to the ankle opening. For me this is painful to feel when I move. I have narrow, flat feet and don't usually have this problem. But these are also pretty narrow, low-volume shoes -- lower in volume than my others if you judge by where the sides with the laces end and how much lacing is stretched over the top of the foot. If you try the shoe on in store, try with different kinds of socks and make sure to test them out on different surfaces! I should have taken more time and maybe tried a larger size, as I can't return these now.

Recommend these sweet hikers for daily use!

I am pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoy wearing this shoe! I was previously loyal to another brand but this hiker has become my go-to for my daily commute and frequent walks. They are just super comfortable from the start. I'm a fan of this navy and grey unisex look, and they have a nice enough appearance to wear to my fairly conservative office. Standing apart from my other active shoes, they have figured out the tongue area and I havent noticed any annoying shifting across the day. The materials used appear to be easy to clean. Lastly, I'd say these are pretty true to size. I went up a halfsize to doublesock.

Walk all the trails comfortably.

Initially I thought that this was going to be A LOT of shoe, and while it might look like that, these shoes are very comfortable and lightweight. The cushion is responsive, and the toe box is great. I’ve used these up and down hills with pretty loose gravel and the traction was solid; walking over rocks is quite pleasant due to the ample cushioning. I have yet to take them through a puddle, but given the design of the upper, I think they’ll do just fine. Overall, really happy with the design and comfort of these shoes.

Like walking on clouds!

I was surprised from the moment I put these on how cushy they were! It really felt super comfortable right off the bat. I'm a size 7 and wore thin socks with this one. My thick hiking socks make it feel a little tighter but also worked in the shoe. I wore them to Nicaragua and they were great on easy hikes and for all the airport lengths I had to walk because of a mishap. Cute colors, great color and make me a smidge taller too. :D

Excellent, versatile waterproof shoe!

I was looking for a cool, lightweight waterproof shoe for an upcoming spring trip to Ireland and Scotland. I wanted something versatile that would be a good all around shoe so I would only have to pack one pair for walking, hiking, and for wearing in the rain. These shoes were absolutely perfect! We had many days of rain, as well as walks on the beach in the water line, and my feet remained dry every time. Also, the CloudHorizon is very comfortable, stable, and durable. I wore them almost every day for two weeks with no discomfort. I highly recommend this shoe!
