Great all rounder for warmer weather

I bought this jacket for Trail Running / Hiking. The inner liner of the jacket is separate from the outer membrane which gives amazing freedom of movement as usually when you get sweaty the jacket would stick to you, on the Kadin the inner layer might start to catch but you don’t feel it, as the bulk of the jacket (the outer membrane) keeps moving freely. The jackets liner did take a beating from sweat during trail running but the outside never showed any sweat because of that separate liner. My only annoyance with the jacket is that the hood is heavier than the collar and pushes the collar back into my neck which feels slightly annoying. I must also say that in windy conditions, the jacket was not wind proof. The pit vents are not pit zips (which I expected for some reason) but two small openings under the arms. I do understand the design choice as pit zips would be annoying on a jacket this soft and malleable. I took a chance with Colors and got the jacket in the Velvet Sand colorway, it looks amazing! I never usually get compliments on outdoor jackets but I get a lot on this one! I’m glad I went with it. Overall good jacket that I love for outdoor activity, but not one I will take when the weather gets bad because of its air permeability.

Versatile Hiking Jacket

This has become my go to jacket for unsettled days in the SF Bay Area. I hike 5 miles every day rain or shine with my dog in the hills outside San Francisco. This is a perfect jacket for cool, windy days with a chance of rain (which is most of the winter days in SF). It's light and packs well when not needed. Blocks wind well. Sheds light rain well, although I wouldn't want to wear it through a downpour. Breathability is generally good, but I noticed that humidity seems to affect its breathability more than my other Gore Tex products. Clean and modern look if you need to wear it walking around the city.

Purp for the win

This soft-shell was surprising out of the box... it wasn't as tough or abrasion resistant as I had pictured, but instead very soft and flowy and smooth. I am unsure if it will hold up to actual rough wear, but I cannot say enough about how breathable and comfortable it is. The pit zips are a non issue and vent enough air until you just decide to take it off - all the folks complaining about it being hot... well, it's time to delayer. The purple color has garnished more compliments than any garment I have ever owned. Fits true to size, not meant to be baggy, 5'10'' 170lbs and got the medium for a nice slim fit for trail running. Extremely rad jacket.

A very good hardshell jacket

This is a very comfortable and light dress, which has accompanied me to climb many mountains. Great to wear in spring and fall, my family and I love it and will continue to support REI

The new AR of jackets

Having tried the proton hybrid to test the goretex infinium and loved the breathability aspect, especially for biking, cross-country skiing and extensive hikes; thus went with the kadin since it does not have any insulation, so more adaptable through the year. The storing pocket is great to have it on the go as an emergency rain jacket or everyday jacket. It has a city style look but with attributes for the outdoors; making it the coat to conquer the city, roads or the mountains!

One of the best jackets I own, love, love, love, i

Second color of the Kadin because I love the first one so much. It acts as an awesome wind and normal rain jacket for these changing spring days. Or is my go to for days in the 45-60 degree range. It definitely works as a shell to layer under also. The pit vents do a good job of keeping air flowing through and the cut of the jacket is nice and trim. I’m not the thinnest dude out there so a large fit me perfect. I prefer my black one over the Iola color but both are awesome.

Water resistant, not waterproof. Very breathable.

I am 170 cm, 63 kg. I use a size Small, and can wear it alone or there is enough space to put a baselayer + midlayer. I bought this jacket for outdoor and everyday use, to replace my 7 year old Zeta AR Gore-Tex. As expected, Kadin is Infinium, so it is marketed as a windshell that is water resistant, not waterproof. I prefer this fabric. After a downpour of 2 hours, it has kept me dry, with some dampness at the seams of the fabric. The fabric itself was pretty "waterproof", only the seams leaked. It is a good trade off for me, because I get a slightly damp seam, but it is much more breathable than a Gore-Tex. I used it for cycling and hiking so far, but I plan on using it as an outer layer for cross country skiing and running. I would only need a Gore-Tex for standing 8 hours in a downpour, for a 4 hour rain, I prefer Infinium.

Almost perfect mid-layer

I've used as a mid-layer on a couple cold hikes since purchase. It's got a great fit and is super light. The pit vents offer a bit of breathability but I wish they were zippered and not just a small opening. That's the reason for the 4 star review. Also only offered in black. Strange. I am 6 feet 185lbs and bought the medium for a snug fit. Exactly what a mid-layer should be. Shell fits perfectly over it.
