Longtime exofficio customer, have always been satisfied in the past with their products. This one though, the pants are very lightweight as echoed by other reviewers. There didn't seem to be concerns about durability though so I opted to buy these for hiking in Maine backcountry where black flies and mosquitoes can be intense. The pants were great for our first backpacking trip -- no issues with bugs. However, on two hikes involving minor rock scrambling, the pants teared in multiple places. Not rock climbing mind you, just clambering up rocks. Very disappointed. In summary, 5/5 for bug protection, 1/5 for durability.
I need pants to work for me that I don’t have to think about and can rely on to do what I need them to do and these do it. I hike daily and usually get up to my hips in the river. It is summer, muggy, tons of mosquitos on the water, big tick year. Super confident wearing them as my legs have not been bitten! Lightweight, unrestrictive, recommend to size down if you wear them in the water as they seem to stretch wet. I have hips/derrière but a waist, and the drawstring solves that issue that most pants do not. Super comfy! Feels like I’m barely wearing anything which is welcome for summer
I absolutely love these pants - they are a perfect fit for me and since I have short legs I love the fact I can buy the petite version. The material is wonderfully cool and doesn't cling and the "coolmax" strip down the inner leg gives extra ventilation. You can adjust the tightness around the ankle for added protection although I don't do this as then it is inclined to ride up. If there are any cons they are the drawstring which I don't really like and the color because it is not very practical - but light colors deter mosquitos so that's why I bought it. I would buy it again!
Fit was perfect and worked great on a recent buggy hike!
I bought these in the airport because I didn’t want to wear leggings on my flight. I cannot recommend these enough. Even though they are meant for outdoors, they were perfect for my flight as they are lightweight with air vents. I also love the optional cinch on the legs. Some reviews said they were too tight on the butt, I didn’t feel that way. Maybe I just have a flat butt LOL. But I am 5’5 and 130 lbs, I bought a size 6 and they were perfect. Can’t recommend them enough.
I purchased these pants for a 10 day backpacking trip on the wonderland trail in Mt. Rainier National Park. I wore them every day. The venting helped on the hot days, I had no bugs bites though most of our group did. They were perfect in the fit and the flexibility of range of motion. The cinching ties on the ankles kept the Pine needles and pebbles out of my boots. Also, liked the phone pocket and the tie at the waist. Highly recommend!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First off, so wonderful to find these in petite. For those of us under 5’1” these is a joy. The lightweight makes them perfect for steamy jungles or the hot streets of Bangkok or yard work in tick-infested areas. Be careful with the versions with Velcro closure at the waist. That can be tough on ex officio undies that get caught! But fit was great and pockets ample. I grab them whenever they go on sale.
Fit is very odd. I am 5’4” 140# and have purchased similar size 8 pairs from exofficio. The others have fit well but these are loose in the legs, kind of loose in the waste and fit through the back end and hips but are strangely inflexible so, despite fitting they feel tight when you move in them. Needless to say, I didn’t pack them for their intended use to Costa Rica!
Really like the weight of the pants. They feel well ventilated and I like the pockets and belt loops. I swapped out the thin cord on the bottom of each leg for a thicker stretch band with a slide lock for adjusting. Love that much more. Not so cutting. Otherwise a winner. As a shrinking getting older woman I do appreciate the petite sizing option very much.
I have the original Damselfly pants, which I love, but I thought I would give these updated ones a whirl. I would have liked the roll up snaps on the legs, but this new design has cinch cords at the ankles, so that might work out just fine. I love that they brought back the leg venting, this time up the inside of the leg, like the old Vent'r pants! Yay!
