This is a fantastic system for anyone like me who struggles to get poles off my gloves as the lift chair approaches, BUT...replacing the straps if you lose one or both is another $40 at Leki, and you cannot replace just one strap. If you leave the straps on your gloves, misplacing one or both means you've lost half the price of these poles. It would be helpful if all the straps had fluorescent parts, and it would be even more helpful if REI/Leki would sell singles, or a multi-pack of straps at a little better price.
The quick release feature is incredible but this it will not auto-release in a bad fall so it has the potential to tear the thumb ligament (ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) at the base of the thumb) as the pole will not fall away from the hand as would a pole with conventional straps when used correctly. NOTE - when pole straps are used correctly, the pole will fall away from the hand and the strap will remain on your wrist. The more expensive poles with the Trigger 3D is far safer and has release built in.
I like the smaller grip on the ladies’ poles. The S strap is nifty. I put powder baskets on. I’m curious to see how durable they are. My last pair of Leki poles always had a slight curve to the shaft.
