Best All Around Touring Ski

After a dozen or so days on the Echo I can easily say they perform as well or better than the classic QST 106, which I have been touring on for years now. They are super playful yet incredibly stable even in variable conditions. On the skin track they are significantly lighter than the QST 106 giving me a little more energy for those really big days. The 139mm tip makes for excellent trail breaking and powder skiing, but the friendly shape holds an edge in steep and firm snow. Pair this with the MTN binding and you have yourself the best touring setup around!

Best ski ever. Not close.

The Echo is ridiculously nimble, and outstandingly powerful. The shape is playful without compromising the ability to hold an edge or carve hard. This ski is absurdly light for the uphill, so I wondered if it it could perform as well as a QST 106 going downhill. It was better. The lighter weight does not compromise anything when it comes to strength. I was popping pillows and dropping cliffs without hesitation and every movement just felt easy and fun. I’d take this ski out over just about anything no matter the conditions. The rest of my quiver is about to be very jealous of all the action these will see.

Best lightweight skis I've ever owned

I've got some days on these now and loved them right away.. These are the lightest skis I've ever owned and they ski amazing and not just for their weight category.. So far I've skied about every kind of snow except for deep pow and they ski everything great. light and nimble but able handle speed. Really stoked on these!

Super backcountry/sidecountry,resort POW ski!

When I first skied the ECHO 106 I was blown away with how it skied on firm snow...I know, weird for a ski designed to be a bit softer for lighter, deeper snow. When I did get into the softer deeper snow I realized just how special this ski is. It is super damp and has an incredible flex pattern to float in deeper snow and its able to absorb the bumps in the crud. What really makes this ski, IMO, is how light it is for uphill travel! Nothing like Salomon, once again, giving an already great ski (QST 106) a twin brother that is better in other conditions. Highly recommend!

So Far SO Great!

Only one day into the backcountry on the Echo... and with the new MTN Summit 12 binding, this feels like a dream set up. Lightweight and super dialed for most any condition, I can't wait to see where this ski takes me. AND...I shed over a pound and a half per foot with skis and bindings alone. So good!

Phenomenal In Performance

Ski guiding in the Tetons every day and backcountry skiing for over 25 years -- this is the best touring ski I have ever skied. Highly recommend this ski due to its weight, shape/cut, reliability in all terrain, and performance in all conditions. Big performance in a light package. Love the ECHO.

About time

My go to ski for nearly a decade has been the QST 106. I spend 98% of my time in the backcountry and am so stoked about this lighter version of the 106. Free ride tourojust keeps getting better.

Just a great all around ski

The phrase “quiver of one” gets thrown around a lot. Well, the phrase is apt for the Echo. If you can only have one pair of touring skis, these would do a better job than most. They’re light enough for most days, they’re far more damp than other skis in this weight class and they’re just fun to ski. Powder? Corn? Great! Windboard? Well, that’s not fun but they manage as well as any other ski? You could even set these up as a resort ski and have a blast. Just a super versatile, great skiing pair of planks. Get some!

good ski, awkward sizing

this ski is incredible, and I really can't exaggerate how versatile it is. Floats well, drifts, jumps, yada yada yada its a great ski. I would consider this a fantastic adventure ski because regardless of the snow you encounter, this ski will help not hinder. The issue with this ski and I think it's somewhat major is the sizing. for myself, 189 as an adventure ski is too long. Not that it's beyond my ability but more so that it's too long of a ski to be truly versatile in the backcountry... and 181 is not supportive enough. If you are in between sizes I would recommend sizing down and getting the regular qst 106, as you will get the support without an excessively long ski. I have skied both 189 and 181 and really think something in between is needed for the echo to be great.

Great BC Slayer!

The Echo 106 is stellar ski in an array of conditions. The QST Echo 106 is made for the accent and it shows with its lightweight and ample amount of camber. The amount of rocker in the tip make braking trail a breeze and the amount of camber under foot make for a lot of grip in sticky skin track situations. On the down, the Echo can carve with the best of them, handle crud like a champ, and knifes through the deep stuff! Great ski! Highly recommend.
