Leki Glace Mittens
I saw these Leki Mitts in Lake Tahoe two weeks ago but waited to buy them at REI so I could return them if they didn't work out. I live in Rochester,NY. We got 4 inches of snow two nights ago and it was all of 23 degrees today and windy. I put these new mittens on and went for a 3 mile walk. Mind you these are brand new so should have lots of loft. They were marginally warm, thumbs started to get cold and all the while I'm walking so my heart rate is up. Because of the finger separators inside the mit it was impossible to make a fist inside. Also, I'm a man and these say women's mittens. I have small hands. I've been told Tech mfgs usually put more insulation in womens clothing. My hands usually get cold in almost any glove/ mitten I've ever tried. I do a lot of skiing and hiking. Love the look, love the fit, love the softness inside and out. Love the finger separators. Just not sure these will work for me. Going to try them again them temps reach 30. Until then, good luck with your decision
Not durable.
We are devout Leki pole users both for racing and recreational skiing. Love the fit and feel (and warmth) of these mittens but TWO pairs tore on the thumb: after one after 2 uses, one after about 5 uses. Now debating another style or reverting back to the pole straps.
