Very solid all around goggles
I really like these goggles. They did everything they advertised they would. I received the red sol-x mirror tint. They did a fantastic job of taking away all sun glare, protecting my eyes, but were never too dark. Fit was comfortable. It was very easy to adjust to my size, and then they stayed there no loosening over time was noticed. The silicon on the inside of the band was also a nice touch as there was very little movement once on my head. The goggles vented well with zero fogging issues during use. They also did fit comfortably over a pair of glasses, if that is a need. All in all very pleased with this product.
Outstanding ventilation, not so great peripheral
I received these goggles for free via the REI Trailblazers program for my objective, honest review. Overall, these are a “buy” but I’d check them out in-store to make sure you’re ok with the peripheral vision compared to other goggles. They’re more like improved old school goggles than the newer larger ones with a larger visual range. A couple caveats - (1): These are not $bazillion goggles with all the bells and whistles. My rating is based on features at this price point. (2): No lens tint is going to be perfect in all conditions - that’s why the higher end goggles have interchangeable lenses. REI sent me the goggles with a darker tint, which is fantastic in the bright conditions we commonly get in Colorado. Visibility with this tint - especially contrast - is poor in cloudy/low light conditions. I’m still going to rock these on sunny days while going with my cloud and contrast-friendly tint goggles on cloudy or mixed cloudy/sun days. Me testing that in both lighting situations are pictured so you can see what conditions I’m talking about. Like I said, though, I can’t ding it because one tint shouldn’t be expected to do everything. I did knock a star off because it doesn’t wrap around as far on the sides as other goggles that can be found at this price point (see pictures of the side). While peripheral vision is still good, for me it could be better. But different people have different peripheral vision so that may or may not matter for you. Goggles fit like this for years. The ventilation, which is both in the front and on the sides is top notch and not old school. Don’t expect any issues with fogging. I wore these down to single digits (Fahrenheit) in pretty decent (ok, glorious) dry powder snow and didn’t have any problems with cold. One other thing that might matter to the larger noggin’d among us: the strap is on the shorter side so definitely try it on with your helmet. It worked well with my medium size Giro skid lid but I almost maxed out the length. I can’t knock off a star for that since it worked well for me but YM (or kilometers) MV.
Wide lenses = great fit
The Smith Blazer Snow Goggles get five stars for one simple reason--they are wide enough to comfortably fit my giant head. I struggle with sunglasses, hats, and other headwear because they're never quite wide enough, leaving my head exposed or field of vision compromised. The Blazer fits comfortably and covers my entire field of vision, allowing for a fantastic experience. Vision clarity is great, comfort is great, they're easy to adjust. The only even minor drawback is that they might not be the sturdiest goggles, but that also means they're lightweight and that adds to the comfort. I look forward to wearing these out, and then getting another pair!
Good tint for bright light and solid ventilation
These goggles are the kind that can be your go to goggles and you will have no complaints. My main priorities with goggles are comfort and ventilation. The fit was pretty good, if I was to be really picky the nose bridge was a little loose but that is related to my particular face. The ventilation is great. This is coming from a heavy sweater. There are vents around the edge of the lens which seem to work pretty well and the foam wicks away most moisture. I got the Red Sol-X mirror lens which I really like. The base tint is a yellow/amber and does a good job of showing contrast and depth. I would say the tint works best in medium to bright environments. One thing I noticed coming from some newer goggles with pretty wide peripheral is that I did notice the edges. Not to the point where it was limiting, but I would call these average peripheral range. Overall a solid set of goggles.
Excellent goggles. Highly recommended Blazer
Fit and finish is wonderful. Worn these several times. They really work great. I would highly recommend. They are well constructed. The bad is made really well. I think they will hold up really well. Great protection bag included
Actually fog-free!!
I have yet to find a pair of snow goggles that lives up to being anti-fog...until now. These are! I've used them multiple times in active snow pursuits where my heart rate was elevated (xc skiing, snowshoeing and hiking through snowy conditions), and they haven't fogged up yet. I tend to sweat a lot when xc skiing, especially on ungroomed trails; even in single digit temps these goggles held up to the challenge. Zero fogging. I really like the ventilation around the edges--there is a lot more on these goggles than any of my previous pairs. Sometimes I feel like snow goggles press down on my sinuses/nose and make it a little harder to breathe while wearing a helmet, but these didn't add any pressure. I also appreciate the no-slip grippy addition to the band. My goggles stayed put on my helmet the whole time. The only thing I didn't love about the goggles was the more angular design. Just a personal preference, but I like a more bubble/rounded shape...but I'll take function over looks any day!
Great Goggles
These are pretty great googles. I really like the way the fit my helmet. My other pair of googles are almost oversized and a bit too big for my helmet. They end up putting presure on the bridge of my nose. These Smith googles are a perfect fit, and I really noticed it immediately. It was a refreshing change not to have to worry about my nose all day! The color of my lens is orange/red and I was worried about how everything was going to look when I put them on. The did an amazing job filtering the sunlight out, and are not "too dark." So much so, the out perform my cheepie sunglasses. I kinda just want to wear my googles around town, but I have never been "that guy." :) Also it has been a few years since Ive purchased googles, man when did they get so light? They are incredibly light weight. Overall, I am quite happy with these googles. They are my new go-to for snowboarding! Highly recommend.
Average Pair of Goggles
These goggles are okay - I have a different pair I like better. I took them out on a rainy day and the fog protection worked well but I was not a big fan of the yellow tint. The padding is a little scratchy so it could be more comfortable.
Great ski goggles
These goggles are fantastic - a huge improvement from my old ski goggles. They are snug around the nose without feeling too constrictive. They did not fog up at all. I highly recommend for a day of skiing.
