These things are great
Never thought I was a running tights guy but these things are great. I mostly use then for hiking and biking.
Wanted to love but couldn't due to serious flaws
I really really wanted to love these running tights, but we unfortunately had to go our separate ways. Upon delivery I was impressed with the looks and feel of the pants along with the way the material felt. They looked like they would be warm and could resist winds keeping my legs happy on long runs. The inside was lined with a nice fuzzy material which I assumed must have been the Merino Wool and I was excited to try them. Finally, when it was cold enough to wear, I put them on and was happy with the fit. They looked good and although they were on the more fitted end of the spectrum, I personally kind of like that in exercise clothing because I feel it allows greater flexibility and range of motion due to a better fit and less excess fabric. They were comfortable, non-itchy, warm, and even felt durable and up to some running with. While running they were also comfortable and warm. I had no issues with constriction and felt the pants were almost like wearing shorts they fit so well. I never felt overly sweater and never once were my legs cold, but I only ever ended up getting to test these into the high 20's and 30's due to what seems to be a serious flaw Attached in my photos I showed what I was shocked to find after inspecting the pants I was getting ready to wash them after five runs. Did I forget to mention wool fights against odor very very well and has natural anti-microbial so you don't have to wash it as much. The fuzzy material lining the crotch was completely stripped away after just a couple runs! I don't return many items, but I couldn't justify the price of this product for what was happening to them after just a few wears. I wanted to make a sustainable purchase and buy something nice I thought would last for a long time but I just don't know what to say with these pants. I have purchased much less expensive clothing that lasted much much longer and worked almost just as well so I felt what happened was kind of crazy. I've never had any pants I've ever owned that even wore at the crotch so I was quite confused when I saw this and made me second guess if it was something i did. I don't think it was though as I was just running 4-5 miles normally on paved trails. I'm giving two stars for this product because for the price of these pants I couldn't believe what happened to me. I have no reason to believe it wouldn't happen again with a different pair and for all the reasons above I wanted to love the product because it functioned very well but had to return it.
great cold weather running tights
Bought these running tights just a few days ago and got out for a night time run, 31*F with a light breeze and these kept my legs nice and warm. They really have the warmth of sweatpants without the bagginess and bulk. Still plan to try them when there is more wind but so far, very happy with these!
Great on bike or on wet / snowy trails.
Have really enjoyed these new tights. Wore them on a snowy / rainy weekend of hiking and they kept me warm and comfortable over 40 miles.
Comfortable on cool weather runs.
Warn them on a few cool weather runs in the 30s and they are a great fit and super comfy and i think theyll be great as temps continue to drop. I've never had running tights and am impressed.
Fab pants, but pocket deficient
The pants are excellent, as any Smartwool product is expected to be. However, the mid-back zipper pocket is so tiny that I need to scrunch up my super thin and flexible wallet to be able to insert it. The side pocket is big enough for my phone. The wallet pocket deficiency is inconvenient if you plan to do more than simply go out for a run or hang around the house. I plan to return them on my next trip to the big city.
Great winter pants for sub 30 degree runs.
I got these on sale, I run roughly 50M a week 52 weeks out of the year. I have worn them a couple of times on runs that were mid 20s and 13+ mile/run. Comfortable no chaffing and solid construction.
