Not Loving the new design :(

I’ve owned a couple of these- they were formerly made from metal and were very durable. When the plates locked folded together they snapped together securely. The one I just received is made from some sort of hard plastic? Both the side plates and the toothed cam are no longer made from metal :(. When the plates fold together over the rope there seems to be play where the side piece can wiggle a bit rather than locking together as securely as my old one. It’s probably fine since I only use it as a backup, but I would not purchase it again. It’s overpriced IMO and other comparable devices are available in the same $ range. The factory spec page is vague about the materials and I got no response when I emailed them about the design change.

Great for saddle hunting!

I use this for saddle hunting. I wasn’t sure if it was worth the extra money vs the ropeman 1 or 2. But this does seem to be the best version with the most versatility. It has the same cleat as the ropeman 1, but more versatile for different sizes of ropes like the 2. Seems like the Kong Duck would be the only true competitor with this ascender. I have had zero issues with it and probably have hunting close to 10 times with it. As far as I am concerned, great product!

works

So far so good, and it works just fine with a 10 mm static rope but does need some weight tied to the bottom for top rope solo. I did cut off the tether bc I didn’t like it hanging down and possibly working its way into the micro traxion and disabling it.
