These hiking boots are lightweight, sticky on slick surfaces and handle uneven surfaces well. I have not taken them on a long hike yet, but my feet don’t get too sweaty on shorter distances. These seem more breathable than other waterproof hikers that I have worn in the past. Feet stayed dry crossing a creek. I am anxious to wear on a half day hike soon. On the minus side: the toe box is plenty roomy for me but those with wider or fuller feet may find them too tight. They run a bit large. I usually wear a 9.5 in running shoes, but a 9 is plenty long enough for me. I received this product for free from the REI Trailblazer program in exchange for my honest review
These shoes are SOOO PRETTY, feminine and an overall fantastic light boot. These Asolos are very well built, and comfortable as soon as you step into them. Light with medium ankle support, great traction and fit very well (zero slippage). I took them on several hikes, one of which was super rocky and they performed great. Each of my feet had a very different opinion on them, however. After putting in a quick test jaunt and a 7 rocky mile hike on a brand new pair of shoes, and my left foot was completely comfortable the whole time and felt great after the hike. However, I have a touchy neuroma (nerve irritation) on my right foot where the footbed was just a tiny amount too narrow for it, which sadly for me equals increasing discomfort the more mileage I put on them. If I didn't have the issue with my neuroma, these would be my favorite pair of hiking boots. They are super versatile and I'd be comfortable using them for summer day hikes and backpacking - especially with them having Gore-Tex protection. It also doesn't hurt that they are in one of my favorite colors.
This was my first time hiking in asos and I'm hooked! The footbed is solid without being heavy and you can't beat their sealed waterproof construction. This is by far my most comfortable pair of boots and had almost no break in period. When you tied these boots, the laces actually stay tied and the tongue of the boot is attached in the shoe so it doesn't slide around and cause blisters. The tread on the vibram is perfect for creek crossings without slipping. The colorway choices are fantastic and I have had multiple people stop me and ask about my boots.
Overall these boots are comfortable, breathable and flexible with good sensitivity in the sole. They did rub on the tendon between my heel and ankle which is why I’m giving them 4/5 stars (this tends to be an issue with boots for me). I recently moved, and while I wasn’t able to test these boots out on the trail I did walk several miles in them over several days while carrying items and moving furniture up and down stairs and over uneven surfaces. My feet never hurt, and the material maintained a comfortable temperature. I think these are a great option for hiking while carrying lighter loads (day hiking, ultralight backpacking) and look forward to using them on my fall hiking trips.
