I've been a huge fan
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been a huge fan of Osprey brand for a while now. It's the only brand of bags I buy. I own quite a few of the different backpack - from Quasar (my EDC for work and travel, Farpoint 40L - my one bag travel carry-on, Transport, Heritage and more). I like their sling bags too and really love the Remnants Packable Daypack that shrinks down to a little pouch. That is lifesaver when you are in Europe and they weigh carryon. I was surprised how well built the 40 duffel with wheels. Love the color green, and the zippers are top notch. I was able to fit a lot using my compression travel cubes. Biggest reason I bought the wheeled duffel was it's easy to pull especially when I'm transferring for connecting flight (don't have to lug weight on my back - getting older) that I have to walk miles to get the other side of the airport terminal. Best of all, the optional backpack attachment is ingenious. This helps when you are traveling in Europe with tons of cobblestone, or in Asia when you're island hopping onto boats after boats. I highly recommend.
Good Rolling/Backpack option
I purchased this for a “carry on only” trip to Paris in April. It is lighter than the rolling Osprey Farpoint which was my other option. It rolled well in the airport and stays upright with no issues. The backpack straps deploy from the front and can easily be cinched down on the outside of the bag to allow for more internal room. This also make them easier and quicker to access. While I wouldn’t want to travel long distances using the backpack option, it was comfortable enough for shorter distances and when using stairs.
Too large for a carryon in most of the world
This is a wonderful, lightweight piece of luggage. But it is NOT carryon size for most of the world!! Europe for example limits carryons to 21.6"; this is 22". The security lines require that you put your wheeled luggage into a plastic box that is exactly 21.6", so it's pretty hard to make this fit (if it's underpacked, and you shove it into the box, you might be able to slip it through). Too bad, because I bought this for international travel. Bummer.
Bag opening
It is unfortunate that the opening of the flap is at the bottom when the bag is standing up. This makes quickly inserting of removing items difficult and requires bag to re-positioned.
Fantastic carry-on bag
We’ve owned this bag for 2 months. In that time, it’s gone on 2 domestic and 1 international flight as a carry-on and still looks new. The backpack straps came in very handy on the international trip, and the design of the bag is fantastic. The 2-height handle makes it easier to pull down the aisles of planes. We will probably order another of these bags soon.
Put approximately + 26k miles
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Put approximately + 26k miles on trip to Africa. Carried on for all airline flights and transfers. Looks brand new. I was amazed at how much I could fit in it. The zippers and handle were bomb proof . Didn't use the backpack straps but did try them on and adjust fit. Very comfortable. My only issue was with the interior compression straps. The stationary strap was so short it kept falling into the bag and t was difficult to fish out every time you added something. Quite annoying. I heartily recommend this pack for overall quality. BTW, I noticed Osprey products all over Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Heathrow airports. I would not hesitate to recommend Osprey to anyone traveling, hiking, or Backpacking.
Great lightweight carry-on
Well made. Rolls nicely and is well balanced when packed. Lightweight. Holds more than one would expect. I removed the straps which opened up a fair bit of additional space. Pleased with this purchase and will consider Osprey for other travel needs.
Perfect Size
This bag is the perfect size for use as airline carry on bag. This met my requirements by being wheeled with retractable handle, easy access zip pocket and room to pack everything I need for a short trip.
Best budget air travel piece
I just replaced my Daylite roller to have the original professionally cleaned after a messy accident. This piece is absolutely what you want and need for budget air travel where cabin and weight restrictions are severe. Two weeks means it will slip into any overhead bin, and wearing in on your back at checkin means they will never ask you to check it. In airports, on arrival and off grid, this mini beast does it all. Plus, looks somewhat elegant at hotel reception. I would prefer that the Osprey logo be a bit muted … hopefully the company is reading this review.
Osprey perfects the roll on and carry travel pack!
Osprey packs have been my go-to on the trail and travel. My aging Osprey Porter 46 has been perfect and durable. I just purchased a new Osprey Daylite 40L! It actually holds more than the Porter 46 and is easier to pack. It has durable wheels and a two ht. handle. It comes with 2 pack straps, however I removed the right side giving me room in the sleeve to pack a jacket and other items while easily pulling out the left strap for easy on the shoulder carry when needed. It’s a great upgrade to a durable trustworthy pack line.
