Painful to Use
I had high hopes for this paddle from some online videos and based on the price range, but after using it I can't recommend this to anyone. The build quality is good and the locking system is solid. Unfortunately, the carbon fiber bar is a large diameter and is made out of a bunch of rings that feel like fish scales. It's very uncomfortable to use and even with paddling gloves it dug into my skin and gave me a bunch of blisters the first time I tried it. If you're considering this, get a feel for it in the store first and don't order it online. I ended up going with a Werner paddle that was a bit more expensive but worth every penny.
Love this paddle
This is my second aqua bound paddle and I just ordered one from backcountry for my GF. I love these paddles and wouldn’t have anything else but. I read the fish scales review and I guess I can see that but it doesn’t bother me. We installed the kayak grips sold on Amazon to put on our paddles and those make any paddle more enjoyable. It’s like having the grips on you bike now on your paddle. You hands stay put, they are cushy, everything about the grips make paddling better. The AB paddle itself… well, it’s the reason my friends can’t keep up with me. Wouldn’t trade this paddle for any one on the market. If I lost mine I’d come back here and order the exact same one.

Have owned this paddle for 5+ years and love it!! My son also has the same paddle and loves it. It has been used by many people with no issues! It is a great, lightweight comfortable paddle. Cannot go wrong with this paddle.
