A Great Trail Running Shoe!

These were my first pair of trail running shoes! Given that context, I have done my best to provide my genuine and honest thoughts about these shoes but I will be honest and say that these are my first shoes of this specific category. HOWEVER, I am an avid runner and hiker and I know what I like/dislike in a shoe! With that said: LOOKS 5/5 These shoes are a sleek looking shoe. I absolutely love the design and how they look. They look like an athletic shoe with some added shred. They aren't bulky, the coloring is unique and fun and like that they can be worn with short or long socks. SIZING 4/5 Size up if you are in between sizes. I usually wear an 8 or an 8.5. I got the 8.5 and still found these slightly snug and that was while wearing a non-bulky sock. If you plan to wear thicker socks with these, size up. COMFORT 4/5 These shoes felt great during my first 6 mile adventure with them, no uncomfortable digging or anything of the sort. After the hike, I had some slight discomfort on my heel where the shoe began rubbing but nothing that some higher socks couldn't handle. FUNCTION 5/5 If you're looking for a lightweight, flexible trail running shoes, these are a great choice. They almost have a water-shoe type feel to them since they are so light weight and flexible which I really like. I also thought the tread on them was very effective. They are able to grip to a variety of surfaces so that you can better focus on moving forward rather than if you are going to slip or not. Also, I experienced absolutely zero debris/dirt getting inside the shoe due to the sock-fit design OVERALL THOUGHTS 4/5 Something not mentioned in the above is the sustainability factor - the materials used in these shoes are very eco-friendly and I'm glad that was given consideration when designing this shoe. Overall, I'm very impressed with this shoe and excited to use it during my trail runs.

I was so excited about these shoes. Loved the ides of the fabric and style. Got them the other day and wore them a few days and really gave them a try. The fit is small. I wear a 9 and these 9's are like an 8.5. Super tight and my heels hurt really bad by the end of the day. Also very little arch support. Disappointed. I was limping by days end. Put back on my Salamons and it was instant relief and a breath of fresh air. I'm going to see about returning them today and hope REI takes them back. Wish it were different because I love the look. Also it's so tight idk why they even put laces there. It's not like there is a tongue.

Fantastic FIt for Fat Feet

I loved the look of these shoes right away, but the proof is in the run. Here is my summation: Fit: Check I have small wide feet (aka mini squares). I sometimes have to go up a size and stick a liner in to make it work. These fit like - I want to say glove, but sock is a better metaphor. I especially like that they are tongueless, so I could slide in (there are two loops in front and back to make getting the shoes on and off a breeze), but the rest of the shoe is reinforced so you feel secure. Plus the cuff goes below the ankle. Yeah, this sacrifices some stability when running on rocks (more on that later), but there is none of the cutting into the skin that I have sometimes experienced with other trail runners. The material is almost a thick mesh which kept my feet from getting too sweaty and meant that I stayed pretty dry when running through streams and puddles. Stability: Check A reinforced toe and cushioning means I felt well protected. While the big lugs meant I didn't feel compromised on uneven surfaces and small sharp rocks, bigger boulders required a little more effort on my part to prevent sliding. Still, I whizzed through a few fast descents, and felt light and bouncy and got a nice ground feel overall. Terrain: I ran over wet leaves, rocks, boulders, sand and streams. Overall, the shoes kept me feeling grounded and stable except for the boulders where I needed to work the angle of the tred a bit more. Look: Check I would happily wear these runners from the trail to the city sidewalk. They have a sassy appeal that gives them a fashionista look. OVERALL: A great super lightweight shoe with a good grip and great fit.

The MOST comfortable light hikers/trail runners

Out of the box, these remarkable shoes conformed to my feet and fit like a glove, with a perfect supportive snugness that flexed and stretched with my stride. The FirmaKnit stretch-mesh upper is astoundingly comfortable. This shoe has NO TONGUE! The upper is one continuous piece of mesh you slide your foot into (it goes on very easily, but then hugs your foot securely), that embraces your foot with the ultimate combo of comfort and support. However, it also has a set of standard laces to be able to cinch and snug to your custom liking. I'm not entirely sure the laces are necessary, but I think they provide individual hikers/runners with options, which is a very good thing. I have never had a trail shoe that had a once piece upper and no tongue, and I'm not sure how many shoes with this type of design are out there, but I love, love, love this shoe and don't see how I could ever go back to a thicker, heavier, less stretchy upper with a tongue that moves around, lets trail debris in, etc. For me this is a huge advance in shoe design, comfort and functionality. The cushioning is like a cottony cloud, and seems to add a little spring to your stride. It is extremely comfortable either on the trail or walking in for hours doing errands, etc.  In terms of fit, I got these in my regular size and the fit is perfect. For some types/brands of shoes in some materials, I need a wide width. These are a regular width, but they are perfect, I assume because the upper material is such a great combination of stretchy and supportive. Even my bunion was supremely comfortable in these shoes.  These are also great looking, with a simple one color upper (digging this Burnt Orange) and a contrast outsole.  I must also note that I am very impressed with the materials content, explained on the box - there is a great deal of recycled and bio-based content in these shoes, including 80% recycled content in the upper and 100% in the laces/webbing/rock guard.  I've had these for three weeks now and feel the same way about them as on Day 1. I generally like to walk around the house barefoot or in socks, but I'm just as happy to have these on all day with zero foot fatigue and pure comfort. On the trail, I was a bit concerned that this type of stretch-mesh upper construction would not provide enough support, but I have felt completely secure and supported on several hikes, on rocky/rooty portions, inclines and downhills, and slippery wet leaves, which we have a lot of right now in the northeast. The treads have lugs that appear a little shallow, however the grip is great and they shed trail debris, so no problem there.  I cannot say enough good things about this shoe. I guess I never thought I could be this enthusiastic about footwear despite being a serious gear junkie, but these are truly incredible for their comfort and support and I now don't see the point in having other trail shoes!

Great trail shoes!!!!

As an ultramarathoner shoes are very crucial when it comes to training and races. I always buy my shoes from running stores that evaluate my feet so I get what’s best for my feet to prevent injuries. I am VERY impressed by the REI Co-op Swiftland MT Trail-Running Shoes for women. They are very light weight, true to size but I would go half a size up if your feet swell up or wear thicker socks. Overall, I did 30 miles in them and absolutely love them. I will be using them for my current ultramarathon training.

Great for short hikes!

These were my first pair of trail runners I’ve ever gotten, I was between these and Solomons. My goal was to use them as a lighter hiking shoe when I travel because I normally bring my hiking boots on short weekend trips for the support. When I first received them, I absolutely loved them - the fit and feel were great. However, I noticed that they only do really well on shorter hikes with flat terrain (3-5 miles tops). When I tried going longer or adding any serious elevation, the backing would rub on my ankle causing issues. Overall they’re a great leisure hiking shoe, but I wouldn’t take them on anything with difficulty.

Cushioned comfort

One of the first things I noticed when trying on the REI Co-op Swiftland MT Trail-Running Shoes - Women's was the snug fit. The first time wearing them, the heel collar felt tight and with ankle socks on, the Achilles area felt a little raw at the end of the day. Over the course of wearing them over the next two weeks, though, the heel collar began to feel more comfortable without causing any heel slippage. The cushioning and arch support were noticeable, but in a good way. Also wore them for a day of pavement walking and short pavement running and they held up nicely as well. Not a critical criteria for me when choosing running shoes but liked the color and style. Overall, pleased with this versatile option.

Better than my hiking shoes. :)

These shoes are like a hug for your feet! So, so comfortable. And I'm more of a hiker than a trail runner and usually wear higher top boots because my ankles are susceptible to rolling..but these shoes provided so much support. I was really surprised with how supportive my feet felt. Definitely try for yourself!

Sold me used shoes.

I ordered three pairs of the same shoe, different colors. Two arrived in new condition. The third was clearly someone else’s returned item. The bottom of the shoe was worn. The laces wear untied with no inserts. The shape of the shoe was wrinkled at the bend of the toe, and the shoelaces had a black market stain.(coral laces).

They feel like they were MADE specifically for me

These shoes feel super stable & structured. They wraps around your foot perfectly, easy to get on as well. Honestly the sturdiness took me off guard. They’re so grippy, I have 24 pairs of running shoes & never felt a trail shoe like this.
