My initial reaction was “This is getting returned!” But now I like it. Still holding off on that 5th star but I may revisit this later and add it. I had been using a narrower, longer woman’s saddle and at first found the wider Ergon saddle unacceptable. (I measured my sit bones before ordering (Ergon’s site is very helpful) and I got a S/M.) It felt like my thighs were rubbing on the wider rear of the saddle and honestly, after the first six miles (only 6!) I hated it. But I could not help but notice that the nose of the saddle was very comfortable. Hmm, could this problem be fixed? So I moved the saddle back, just a little, and that helped immeasurably. Feeling very positive about this saddle now.
This is my absolute holy grail saddle! I tried so many saddles and was having problems with numbness and pudental nerve compression. A lot of saddles were a smidge too wide at the front, and the cutout was a little too wide at the back and would rub the back of my thighs. This saddle solved all my issues. I went with REI to make sure I could return it if I needed to. I put about 2500 miles of hard gravel and road riding on this saddle in 9 months and it's still going strong. Impressively, there's no marks or snags after crashing either. Well worth the money.
I wish I could say I loved this saddle, but I rode on it for almost a year with constant soft tissue pain/pressure, and finally replaced it with one I can ride on without discomfort (I needed a wider one with a cutout that goes farther back). It was actually reasonably cushioned on my sit bones, and it's solid quality and didn't wear out. But as it goes with saddles, it's not the right fit for me, but it could be right for you.
This seat is just too narrow for my sit bones. I believe it's incredibly important as a cyclist to know how wide your sit bones are and to know the right seat size. Padding is minimal, as Ergon likely intended. Cut out is functional for female anatomy, just not the right cut for me.
