I have had many iterations of the Cormac shirt and I have enjoyed all of them. The Cormac is a classic Arcteryx tshirt that does everything I need it to and just a little more. I use it for almost everything in the summer from running, hiking to just getting yard work done. I bought this shirt originally as a quick dry hiking shirt but the UPF rating and the articulated fit defiantly have the Cormac stand apart from other quick dry options. My one complaint is the newer fit is a little loose and baggy compared to older models and I do miss the older fit. Other then that the Cormac is a fantastic summer active wear shirt that does it all.
I was hoping the reviews of the new Cormac were off, but unfortunately they’re accurate. I own three of the old Cormac SS and one long sleeve. The durability and quality of the old model is excellent and the fit was perfect for me. The quality of the new fabric does not compare to the old one and not worth the $70 price tag… it is more like a $30 dollar shirt. It’s definitely not the quality I’ve grown to expect from Arc’teryx. The fit is off too… it’s tight all around. Maybe they’re targeting a younger skinnier consumer. Too bad because I really loved this shirt. I can’t speak to its durability because I’m returning it. I’ll take the REI $35 dollar equivalent over this one… better quality and better fit.
Just to echo other's reviews. This new edition's overall sizing and quality is bad. The sleeves are too long - to a point where the sleeve rubs against the elbow pit on a run, it's a minor complaint but it's very annoying on a long run. The stitching around the neck also came loose on the second wash. Overall, do not recommend this shirt. If you are looking for a good hybrid shirt go for the Vuori tech shirt.
This is my go to shirt if I know I'll be breaking a sweat. I've used this on the warmer days and the material is highly breathable and allows the breeze to cool me down - As expected. I don't have any issues with the material being smelly after a sweaty day. But just like any synthetic material, I'm only using this for the day. Fit is good across the chest, back and arm, although I do find this runs a bit long so something to keep in mind for the shorter torso person - I can see this being handy if you're worried about it riding up. Overall, great quality, high output shirt - very lightweight and great for those warmer days. Or in the gym.
I bough the last version Cormac SS, and now two of the newer ones. The build and construction are solid. But sort of confused on the seam placement—they are placed on the front shoulder which is an abrasion prone location if running with a pack. The previous model seams were placed on the back for shoulder so less chance of damaging the threading. That said, I can imagine the thread in these seams getting snagged or worn down overtime, thus presenting a durability issue. Not a deal breaker by any means but something to consider if you’ll be rocking a running pack most of the time. Oh yeah, the orange color is “safety” bright. Great for twilight hours on the trail on on the road. Fit is also very good for a size small (5’7”, 38 S in jackets).
I want to start off by stating that I am a big fan of Arc’teryx. I have countless jackets, hoodies, beanies and such. I’ve always been able to count on the quality, materials, and fit. I am a relatively small statured, fit person and it seems Arc’teryx caters to fit active people. But this shirt fits like I’m wearing a poncho. The fabric is nice and the seam stitching is quality but the fit is just weird and not comfortable. I mean it’s just a T shirt right?! It’s kinda hard to explain. I am a solid medium and it’s not that it’s a size issue, it’s just weird. So I’m kinda bummed and at this price point it should feel great.
An enjoyable shopping experience, very good product!
I bought a couple of the revised shirts for my husband who has been wearing the previous versions for years and loved them. He was massively disappointed by this revised model. The cut and quality has taken a massive nosedive. Whereas before the previous shirts offered great articulation and looked good on him, these ones are baggy, poorly fitting and look awful. The sleeves are too long, the neckline is all wrong, and they just look xxxxx! It seems once again Arc’teryx is abandoning its core market and instead catering for overweight out of shape individuals, as I guess there’s more of them about to make money from selling this tat to. Please bring back the older version.
I have 3 shirts of the previous version that I like a lot better. Material is a bit thicker but wicks moisture and breathes better and therefore keeps me more comfortable on hot days. Also the fit is better so another layer of additional comfort. The current version is stitched differently and is noticeably less comfortable. The material is also thinner so I am worried it is not as durable. Biggest thing to ne is that it does not breathe as well and is more expensive. I have a lot of pants, jackets, shirts, hoodies and caps from arcteryx which i love but this shirt is a step in the wrong direction. Hopefully it gets better next version. Shirt still looks nice though.
Compared to old version- cheaper material, bad fitting all around, sleeves way too long. These used to fit and feel like $70 shirt. They now feel like a $20 shirt. Paper-thin materials compared to old shirts. The excuse is always “they’re more breathable,” but the old ones had more substantial fabric that was already very breathable. Very disappointing all around, but it’s what we’ve come to expect in 2024 where quantity and company profits reign supreme and quality goes out the door so quarterly earnings are in the black.
