Exceptional, flexible cushioned trail shoe.

Great cushioned training shoe for long runs and recovery days. I’ve never really been a big fan of Max cushioned/high stack height trail shoes as I usually find them too rigid/stiff for me. This isn’t the case with the Glide Max Tr though. The cushion is good, and I’m very happy that the shoes flex naturally with my foot and doesn’t cause any discomfort or strain in my achilles or calves. I think I would have preferred the quick laces on these as I do find the laces come untied a bit, but maybe that’s just me as I’m not used to tying laces with Salomons. Great new model!!

Greater than the sum of its parts

This shoe is funny for me. I had the UltraGlide and loved it. This shoe is similar but and first feels less refined. There are some 'problems' (the tounge slips to the side, I can feel the edges of the insole on the bottom of my foot, the tounge and heel padding is chunky, and it runs a bit small). However, when I run in this shoe, not only do these disappear, I really like the shoe, better than the UltraGlide. Grip and comfort are great and it dissapears underfoot. I can only think that some genius at Salomon knew that all these oddities would add up to a great shoe. They do, but it still doesn't take away from my confusion.

Comfy, fit well, good traction, poor breathability

I have an Altra-shaped foot but I need a sneaker with drop, so I tried these. Surprisingly, these are wide enough for my feet. They are very comfy and soft, have a great traction on trails, and fit well. However, they do not breathe well at all. My feet were pretty soaked with sweat. When I wear my Brooks or Altras on the same trail and same temperature outside, my feet do not get as wet since they have better breathability. Also... the squeak! Like lots of other reviews have mentioned, my right sneaker SQUEAKS! I even took a video of it as evidence. The pic I attached is from the video. I've never had a sneaker that squeaked in my entire life - not sure how Salomon managed to accomplish this! I may return them - I cannot listen to the squeak for miles and miles on end.

Great distance trail shoe!

Really like the comfort and fit of this shoe! It's great for long distance easy trail runs on gravel and light trails. My one complaint is that since The shoe does not have a gusseted tongue, it often shifts to the side and I have to stop to fix it. This is definitely an oversight in my opinion for a trail shoe. Also, the grip is pretty good, but would be made better with a slightly more aggressive lug profile which would allow the shoe to be used on more aggressive and technical trails. I'm between a 10.5 and 11 in most shoes and these seem to run a little on the larger size so the 10.5 fits perfect.

Very comfortable. A potential issue with wear

Out of the box these were very comfortable and nice to run in. Although I’m 68 I am new (about a year) to running. I’ve had these for about 6 weeks and after 100km of running I’m seeing some wear on the heal area of the shoes. Most of the running has been on pavement with maybe 10% on gravel. Time will tell if this is an issue.

Trail, Walking, and Running

Decided to try these after a run year ago when a demo tent was in SF. Loved the trial and shoes and decided to give them a try after my Hokas were just not holding up. Shoe runs true to size and can be used for a variety of reasons on the trail as a lite hiker or running, or for walking and running on a variety of surfaces. Shoe appears to be durable and more stable than my Hoka ATR Stinsons, the drop is close to the same, lateral stability is better, toe box is perfect, and comfort is the same or better. These appear to be a cut above and Id give them a try.

Not truly a max cushion, but...

...it was alright. I like to predominantly strike mid-/fore-footed, where the cushion is actually less on this shoe. Surprisingly, I also felt a little ouchy on one rock during a trail run. On otherwise less technical trails, I'm sure it would be fine. At 6'4" and 220#, even the rear portion could use a little more cushion. These are fine for daily runs, but I'll look for something beefier on my ultra efforts. I will say, though, I have a low instep, and found these shoes fit relatively snug compared to other brands/shoes. For my needs, this was a plus!

Good shoe

I've had these for a month or so and have done several mid length trail runs in them. Out of the box they hurt my big toe after about 5 miles. I would prefer a bigger toe box. I loosened them up and it relieved the issue somewhat but this allowed the tongue of the shoe to slide to the side due to it not being gusseted. I prefer the quick lace system instead of the ordinary laces. Overall the shoes are light, decent cushioning and get decent grip. A couple of minor changes and I would buy them again.

Great cushioning needs some improvement

I recently took advantage of the sale/markdown on these. I own a pair of Aero Glide 2’s these shows provide the same feel. However after only 20 or so miles, the foam in these soles are beginning to break down a bit. I detect a “creak” in the right shoe that I can only suspect is the foam starting to separate. Upside is I don’t have full price in the investment. I may come back within another 50 miles to share any updates, however I was disappointed in the initial break-in.
