Great, easy way to modify my water bladder
It seems a lot of the other reviews indicate this item is hard to install. If you use some O-ring, food grade lubricant, it's very easy to install. Before anyone says, "why on earth would I have a bottle of O-ring, food grade lubricant?", you should really have some of this on hand for proper maintenance of you water bladder. I specifically have the Super Lube, O-Ring Silicone Lubricant. Otherwise, the product functions as intended and comes as pictured.
It works but its an adventure getting on a tube
I got this to add connectors to my osprey insulated tube which for reasons I will never understand doesn't come with them. I only needed one quick connect connector for the hose, so this kit was overkill, but it seems to be the only way to get the quick connector and I guess now I have extra pieces if one breaks somewhere. It does work, but get it on a tube is an adventure. It probably took me an hour or more and I did a number on my hand in the process. After I already had it 1/2 way on I saw online the suggestion to put on some form of lubricant and would definitely recommend trying that for anyone else getting this. Also as a heads up the tubing that comes with it is very short, if you think it will function as a hydration reservoir tube to drink out of you are wrong.
Convenient
Does what it says on the tin. We use these connectors to attach our Osprey and Platypus reservoirs to a Katadyn water filter--can be done without removing the bag from the backpack pocket, which is especially convenient for refilling while on the trail.
Extremely difficult to install
I’m a pretty strong guy, and I could not get the quick connect to go into the house of my pack more than 1/4”. I ended up pulling the quick connects out and boiling the house for a few minutes to make it more mailable. In their installation tutorial on YouTube a dainty female pushes the connector in effortlessly. That certainly wasn’t my experience, but now that it’s installed, it works well.
Most convenient
This kit makes it easy to refill the reservoir without having to rethread the tubing. To make installation easier bring water to a boil in a small container, dip the end of the hose into the hot water to soften the tubing then push the tubing onto the fitting. May have to repeat the heating. Using rubber gloves helps with the grip.
Connectors Too Tight for the Tube
The idea of quick disconnect is great. The execution is terrible. I can't get the tube all the way on the connectors. Osprey videos offer no help. And now that I understand that lube could be used, it's too late. I already cut my tube to length. So, I'm literally and figuratively stuck.
I wanted something to replace
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wanted something to replace the one that got lost. That one was 2-3 feet long. This one is only a foot, if that. Can't walk and use it without tweaking my neck. Why don't you sell replacement ones that match the ones that came with my bag?
Great!
Bought this to switch between osprey 4 seasons insulation kit and non insulated. game changing.
I added this set up
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I added this set up on my son’s hydration pack for easy storage.
