New covers don't fit older valves
These new bite covers DO NOT fit older Osprey valves. One way to rectify this is to buy an entire new valve assembly (about $12). The new valve is smaller with a manual valve and a permanent bend in the valve end. I looked at them at REI a couple of days ago and they seem to be made of thinner materials and appear filmize. You can still get older bite covers at Amazon and a couple other outdoor companies while supply lasts.

NEW size bite valve sheath - works perfectly

These bite valve sheaths are for the new generation of Osprey bite valves. As such they work perfectly. These have a smaller profile than the older Osprey bite valve sheaths that are on all of my older water bladders. It's a good thing I have a large collection of old sheaths from years and years of past assemblies. That said, the new design of bite valve is much better than the old, allowing for one-handed operation of the shutoff valve should you need to use that on the go. The smaller profile is slightly less prone to hook on things that it shouldn't. All around this is a winner.

Not compatible with older valves, solution below.

This new sheath design is not backward compatible with older Osprey valves. Most online vendors have not been informed of this change, and sadly Osprey is no longer offering the older sheath design. Thankfully a compatible sheath is now available via Mazama Designs of Bend, Oregon: https://mazamadesigns.com/collections/parts-accessories/products/bitevalve-3-pack-sheath-replacement

Didn't fit

I have an older Osprey hydration bladder that has a cracked/leaky bite valve. I've purchased similar replacement valve sheaths in the past to fix this problem. The latest set of valve sheaths I purchased are much too small in diameter to fit my bite valve. At some point there was a design change and it seems they no longer sell replacement parts for the old model. They should add some type of designation to indicate these only work with the new design.

They are shorter than the

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] They are shorter than the original one, and I need to suck it very hard to drink. I have noticed that I am not drinking much water while cycling regarding this problem. Two days ago I drank about 600cc water after 147 minutes ride, about 30% of the previous ratios.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's cool that these are available! I replaced the bite valve sheathe on my Syncro 20 a few days ago. The new sheath is shorter than the one it replaced, which is a little weird, but it does work. Flow resistance might be a skosh higher?

Replacement bite valve sheath

I don’t like it because it doesn’t fit my bite valve correctly, unbelievably. It’s a good job I also ordered a new bite valve as I could see from the pic it was a different shape to my current one.

Doesn’t fit ALL Osprey valves

Why why why does this say it works with all osprey valves when it doesn't? And why won’t they sell the older size for all the bladders they’ve sold for years?
