Excellent, soft chime to alert trail goers
I thought this was a dumb idea when the sales person recommended it. But then I thought about riding the streets of Coeur d’Alene by the lake on a paved surface and when you go over a bump, it would ring and alert people on the trail that there’s a biker there. It works amazingly well! I’m not a trail rider, so can’t speak to that. But it’s extremely durable and great for riding on sidewalks and riding on streets when you go over bumps and it works. You just have to cock the bell maybe at a 30° angle therefore the ball is resting on the timber and will make the noise a little louder. Highly recommend!
Excellent Passive Bell
An excellent, passive bell for mountain bikers. Effective, durable and long lasting. I've owned mine 3 seasons with no issues.
Great bell for mountain biking
Works great, I like how easy it is to adjust the loudness. I do wish it was slightly louder, or maybe a manual ringer included so you can hit it pretty loudly if someone has earplugs in.
Great for drop bars
I love this bell! No having to move hands or fingers to ring. Really helpful for drop bars. Just shake the bike a bit if you need more bell. Really happy one of the employees told me about this bell.
Bell rings when I don't want it to
If riding trails with more impact than smooth green trails, the locking device will come loose and the bell will start ringing, which is annoying when riding on one-way, mountain bike only trails where I don't need the bell. Can't comment on reliability yet. Hopefully it is better than the previous model, which would only last a season or two before breaking (I went through three of those).
Fragile
Great in every way until the bell breaks off in a minor crash.
Best for drop bars
Great on drops! No need to use a finger to bell. Would give it 5 stars if it were just a bit louder. Over all very great product. Has a mute function as well. I enjoy that it bolts on so it cannot be easily taken.
17g heavier than the quick release version
Decent quality but 17 grams heavier than the quick release version.
