REI Co-op  Aoraki Travel Dress

I kept admiring my coworker’s REI Aoraki dress (sage) that she would wear to work at the Lab on casual Fridays. Charmed by how cute she looked-I picked up the next closest item on sale at REI -the Sahara dress in marsala (rust). We call them “Adventure Dresses” because they can be dressed up or down for any adventure that the day may have in store for you. Hospital short staffing means you have to hustle, and the adventure dress helps you keep your cool. Mentally I’m adventuring around my garden, while physically I’m still at work. I no longer buy clothing that doesn’t already have functional pockets. Pockets are essential and the third pocket nested within the right pocket has a low-profile zip closure to keep your small essentials safe when your world goes upside down. The secret pocket works like a mini purse further freeing you up. One less thing to carry! Perfectly sized for your license, some cash and a car key for a quick escape from work. No problem squatting down to heft a 50 lbs cube of reagent-the dress stretches with you. The ultimate in layering-with and without leggings & tshirts- cozied up with a cardigan when the air conditioning gets a bit aggressive. The adventure dresses pack down small and with a quick spritz of water the wrinkles just fall out-ready to go!

There are not enough words to describe how much I love this dress! It's the absolute perfect travel dress and this is coming from someone who would have never been caught dead traveling in a dress. I don't wear dresses much in the real world, much less in vacation world, and DEFINTELY not in airport/travel world. But consider me converted. Pair it with some sneakers and a light jacket. It's packable and light and breezy. It dries quickly and fits comfortably. I love all the pockets and the little surprise zipper pocket! Storytime: I wore this dress when we went to Maine and found myself stuck in the regular airport security line while my husband and toddler breezed through TSA Pre-Check. Fast forward after I finally made it through security and I am full blown sprinting through the airport with my carry-on, wearing this dress. I arrived and the wonderful gate agent held the door for me so I made the flight but man, oh man, was I sweating like a sinner in church. Here's the deal though - once I cooled off, my dress left no evidence! No sweat stains, no lingering odor, nothing! And I had the nervous sweats too, you know how bad those can smell. I proceeded to wear it multiple times over the course of our 2-week vacation in Maine and it has easily become a staple in my wardrobe. I'm 5'4 130 and I purchased the small, for reference.

I was SO excited to see this dress for sale again after it disappeared for a few years! I purchased the "original" version in 2020 and this new one seems to be exactly the same in terms of fabric, quality and fit. I am 5'0", purchased an XS, and did have to get both my original dress and this one hemmed about 3" as the dress hit at an awkward spot just below my knee otherwise. This is the perfect dress for travel, or can be dressed up with nicer flats for business casual office attire. I love the small zippered pocket for my car key fob, and the larger pockets for my phone. I'll definitely be adding to my collection if other colors become available!

This is exactly what I have been looking for in a travel dress, but I am 5'2-1/2" and 129 lb (-5 to go). Its size M is 2" above knee and when I sit pulls up quite a bit. No hot seats for me! Make it longer and more types of travellers can wear. So disappointed as I love everything else even the color. Also many European churches require below the knee. Make a midi-ish version please please. Surely you want to keep the middle aged shopping here!

This is my go-to summer dress for camping, traveling, beaching, outdoor parties etc. I had one from a few years ago and had been looking for it ever since. I bought the brown and gray (as my older one is green) and they look great! I ordered a size up because they tend to hug the hips. I'm 5'9 165# and am leaner up top and curvy through the hip/thigh. I went with a large. It's a little big on top but the drawstring works fine. I wanted it loose on my hips so I can be comfortable. I usually wear a pair of spandex shorts underneath for ultimate ease of movement. Highly recommend!

I bought one of these years ago in black and have worn it constantly for hot weather travel and casual wear. Looks good with sneakers or sandals. The v-neck is not too wide which I like. The zipper pocket is handy. Just barely long enough… could be an inch longer but it’s ok. At 5’3”, 122 lbs I take a small. Technical fabric and functionality while looking presentable in the city. Age-appropriate (I am mid-50’s). It’s hard to find summer dresses that aren’t too short or skimpy but this is one.

I love this dress! I am buying my third one. I agree that the sizing has changed in the past couple years. My first dress was a medium and it fit perfect. I bought another one, also a size medium and it fits a bit more snug. I will be trying a large this time. I wear this dress everywhere! Work, at home, traveling! I took it on a two month backpacking trip thru Europe and it was perfect! The only thing I that I would change is that it be slightly longer, but I am long waisted and have this problem often.

I literally own EVERY color they have ever made in this dress. They didn’t offer it last year, and I was so thankful they brought it back in a few solid colors! However, the fabric is thinner AND it runs a size smaller!! I was incredibly disappointed.

I bought my first Aoraki dress (size S) during the pandemic and wore it almost weekly during summer and it has held up well. Bought one this year and the S has been sized down close to an inch in the waist and bust. I’m a 36A and slim overall so if I’d looked at the size chart I would have been a Medium. Will keep an eye out of M gets restocked but love this dress so much it’s worth keeping the small even if it is a bit snug. It is my go-to for hot and humid weather. Pockets are perfect and it is ideal for packing light. I can get away with wearing in the office in a casual Friday.

It is a lightweight and easy to move around dress. It does not feel bulky and looks great too.
