I bought these less than 3 months ago and I have only ever worn them indoors, never outside, and they already have a run in one of the knees. I bought a similar par of these from Duluth 4 years ago, and I still have them and they are in awesome condition. While I generally tend to like smartwool products, I feel their quality control has gone downhill in recent years
My first pair wore like iron during 2,400 miles of thru hiking. They started to get holes where I snagged them (that’s on me). The second pair started to rip at the waist band (just under the waist band) after I went out on a short one night shakedown hike. They were poorly stitched. I’ll try to exchange them before my next thru hike, but I’m not sure I’ll have time. In summary, I’ve had two pairs. One pair worked out well while one didn’t, thus the 3 star rating.
I bought these last year and only wore them a handful of times. I just pulled them out of the drawer and found them full of holes from the last wash. I must have missed when I put them away. Besides the holes they are so comfortable and feel very nice. Just disappointed by the durability.
These were purchased to replace a fairly ancient pair that, while not unusable, are showing signs of wear. These aren’t cheap, but buying another pair that are exactly the same should be seen as a strong endorsement. Right?
Smartwool is a product you can depend on. Living an active Alaskan lifestyle this product doesn’t disappoint.
Fit is a little on the tight side, but comfortable. Seems to be warm
Fits great, nice material, perfect for winter hiking
These were my first pair of smartwool base layer pants and I really like them. They are thin and easy to put on. The wool fabric feels surprisingly food afair at.the skin and they hug the skin well because their stretchy. For super cold conditions you may want a heavier weight wool. I love that I can put these on and forfeit their there.
Don’t much like the 1 1-2” advertisement on the waste band. Live at 8000’ and wear every day in the winter. Mid weight is perfect for outdoor activities with insulated pants. Price seems to keep rising which may preclude further purchases
Perfect all weather pants worn all winter and fall.
