Great device to heal mosquito bites
I was super curious about this device. It is for after the mosquito bites you and it works really well. You download an app, which does not need much set up, you plug the device on your phone's charging port and then select the heating settings you want in the app and it tells you how long you should leave it on your skin. Be careful cause it does get hot and you might want to start with the lowest setting possible and then bump it up if you need more heat. The lowest setting was enough for me. It attaches to your keys or to your backpack and you can use it whenever and wherever you need to, as long as you got battery on your phone. I did not give it full 5 stars because it is for after you have been bitten.
Easiest to Use
Since I got this product, I've carried it with me on all outdoor adventures. It figures the most use out of it would be just lounging in my backyard! It is very small and loops into a key ring. The app is easy to set up and use. When you plug the device in, it opens the app and loads immediately. There is no lag. The devise is ready to use in a couple seconds. I got two mosquito bites, one started itching so I zapped them both. One keeps itching, the other one never started. I have it on the adult, medium setting. The first second is fine, but it hurts a bit after that. I gave it 4 stars because one keeps itching, despite zapping a couple times.
The heat scared the kids at first, but it works.
My family went to a state park for a few nights and it was early Spring so there weren’t a lot of mosquitos. My kids got a few bites so they wanted to try out the “heat-it.” My 9 year old tried it and said it was too hot and she was scared to use it again. I used the sensitive setting and the shortest heat setting for kids. However my 9 year old did say it made the itching stop, but she was too scared to let me use it again on another bite. That was the first night. My 10 year old was also scared at first but then the itching stopped so she let me use the “heat-it” device again on the 2nd night. She said it worked. I touched the device when it was heated on the child setting and it was warm to the touch so I could see how it scared my kids. We were testing this on mosquito bites on kids. No adults had any bites over the few days we were there so I wasn’t able to test it on them. Overall I would say I was thankful that I had the device but I am wondering how it will do in the Summer when we have a lot more bug bites to look forward to. If I were to take this device on a backpacking trip I would have to rely on my phone to be charged so I would say this is best for car camping, playing outside or backyard use.
Kind of Works
Its nice for in the moment itch relief for a single bite. However, if you forgot repellent you'd be better off with an antihistamine. The items instructions require a detailed read before first use, because if you set it up wrong and switch from short duration/child on first use you are in for a rather sharp sensation on your skin which can be quite startling and cause you to drop your phone. It plugs into the phone port easy and comes without a loop for a keyring. However if you are traveling its about as big as a thumbnail and pretty durable.
Best Bug Relief Ever!
Living in Alabama, we have mosquitos almost year round & I’m always looking for better ways to prevent and treat bites that aren’t lathering yourself in cream. Heat It is easily the best thing I’ve found in years!!! It’s super small, easy to use and works for all sizes of bites! I love that I can have instant relief without have to apply a cream or cover myself in more bug spray! It’s super small & light, took minimal phone battery. Can’t wait to try this on the trail!
An interesting new product
The mosquito bites definitely itch significantly less after using the product. I would highly recommend it to people who get significant mosquito bite swelling/itchiness. IT IS NOT A REPLACEMENT FOR BIG SPRAY, but it will help you sleep at night if you've been bitten all day on the trail. It is very lightweight and easy to attach to a key chain or backpack. It does require an app to operate, so make sure to download it before the trail. I think my only reservation is that the actual product seems very cheap to make, and the price point is steep for what you get.
Little mosquito bite ninja
Finally had a chance to use my heat it device after several days of rain in Houston. My boyfriend and i are completely obsessed with it. We did some yard work and were eaten alive by the mosquitos. This little thing INSTANTLY took away the itch. I would say the pain is similar to a light shock but it’s so quick and worth it. Highly recommend!
Great Product and Price
I live in Southeast Louisiana where mosquitoes are an almost daily occurrence. This product worked really well for me and my husband in reducing itching from mosquito bites. I also tried it out with some ant bites and it seemed to work as well. I will say, I had one ant bite that still itched after a while but overall this product has been a great addition to our normal bite kit! Another thing to mention -- it can get quite hot so I would definitely be wary of using it with younger kids. The plus side to that is that there are settings more appropriate for children available on the app. This product was SUPER easy to use! There was little to no confusion when reading the instructions and using the app.
Small, simple, and WORKS!
I have used this on a few mosquito bites in different places and it works! Each tie, I got to the bite pretty soon after I was bitten, applied the heat a couple times, and then again a full day or two later if it started to itch. The app is super easy to use and the device is extremely light weight and easy to keep on my key chain I can access it any time. I tried it on a couple friends and they were shocked by how hot it got, but also said they didn't itch any more. Excited to have this as a resident of north Texas mosquito country.
So good I've purchased 10 for family & friends
I've purchased 10 of these and will buy more... I'd used a "Therapik" for years but it was never convenient / handy when I needed it... (It also didn't work as well so I would leave it on my skin too long and have a few minor burns/scars to show for it.). The Heat-It doesn't allow this burn issue as it automatically cuts off after 9-10 seconds. (Also requires a 9-10 warm-up the first time it's used.). Yes, you can reapply to more stubborn bites repeatedly. I keep one on my keychain, one in my car, one by the bedside, one in my backpack, etc. Yes, they are expensive but this is definitely a "get what you pay for product". Also, I had an issue / complaint about the lack of a cable to make it easier to apply to hard-to-reach spots and received repeated, detailed personal emails from the company explaining how the product works, restrictions, etc. (I.e. There is not a cable which can do this for a lightning-based (Apple) phone but USB-C devices don't have this restriction). Concern: I thought the "keychain" use wouldn't work as it would fall out / disappear. But I've been carrying one on my keychain for several months now and it hasn't disconnected once. Overall, one of the best purchases I've made in the past several years.
