Smartwool  Merino Neck Gaiter

I have 3 of these! They're a critical piece of gear for my winter activities. I wear a gaiter for winter running and xc skate skiing. I position it so it covers my chin and ears and then wear a fleece cap over it. It is long enough so it also covers my neck, which I appreciate. I also like like the breathable, anti-odor properties of merino. I went for a run a couple days ago when it was 7 degrees Fahrenheit with 10-15 mph winds and I wore 2 of these with ski goggles so my whole face was protected. They performed well!

I recently lost a Smartwool gaiter that I'd had for years. It had been one of my favorite pieces of gear for well over a decade but I thought no problem I'll just get another one. I didn't even consider another brand. Well, the new one I received was incredibly disappointing. The quality has really plummeted. Instead of 100% wool it's a blend. The weight is very thin and chintzy and for some reason it's twice as long as the old one but the fabric doesn't have enough body to stay up on its own so it just puddles around your neck. It's also got a ludicrously large plastic tag inside that even if cut out would still leave you with a stub scratching at your neck. Why????

I really loved the product, only downside for me it's the lenght. I find it a bit too long. Apart from this minuscule thing the product is the best neck gaiter I've ever got. It might sound weird, but recently I got my hair cut from about shoulder lenght to clipped. And the back of my neck got cold really easily while walking outside. The gaiter got me trough the transition from long, warm, protective hair to nothing to protect at all. It's warm but it's super breathable so I don't get sweaty under it. From that experience, I know that it's gonna super comfortable for skiing this winter. #SmartwoolLove

Good size but thin -- I needed a higher reach that felt more comfortable than the reversible gaiter. This achieves the reach but pretty thin. Still, helpful with a scarf over it. Am using to control asthma.

It's light and breathable, but protects the back of my neck from wind! I'm studying to become and acupuncturist and I've learned how important keeping your neck protected is. It's such a crucial aspect of staying healthy in cold weather. The peacock green color is stunning too. I wear it so much I may need to buy a second one. Maybe even a third! I use the Merino 150 Neck Gaiter for Nordic skiing. This light weight gaiter is great for protecting my face from biting winds or fast descents. I recently brought this gaiter along on a 3-day hut-to-hut Nordic trip; it was nothing to pack but great protection during the high wind and snow conditions encountered. Because of its light weight, the neck gaiter is great for aerobic activities and dries really quickly. It is. This gaiter can be worn as a headband, hat, scarf, balaclava, or face mask and therefore is a very useful and versatile piece.

Really stoked on the 150 Neck Gaiter for active recreation. I have used this one for summer hiking. Never overheated thanks to wool. And odor-resistant / not needing to be washed after each use. Wool is the best! This 150 weight is perfect for all seasons when getting active. I will be using this one for nordic skiing all winter long. I also have the 250 Long Neck Gaiter and appreciate it for staying warm and cozy while at work (thermostat wars ensue in my office!) but the 150 weight is perfect for active outputs. It would be even better if the 150 could be slightly longer! So I could really tuck it into the neck opening of my baselayer to really protect from wind. Overall - great and Smart Wool please keep on making these 150 Neck Gaiters!

I bought this as protection against Coronavirus. (I'm sure that no claims are made that this is its purpose, but that's why we got it. ) My husband likes it because it stays up over his nose when he shops in the grocery store. That said, when I carefully washed it in the machine (in cold water) and then air-dried it, it twisted. For our purpose, it works fine. After the pandemic ends, he plans to use it as a neck gaiter, for example when sitting by the campfire on vacation for added warmth. It is well-made.

Light, soft, very comfortable. Good weight for keeping the sun off in mild heat (~80s °f), feels like it'll work well for mild cold too.
