Great Goggles if You Don't Need Glasses
I used the Smith Rhythm MTB goggles at Pajarito Mountain Bike Park on 7/16/23. They fit well on my face & helmet, and provided great visibility. I love the option of the darker lens and the clear lens to be able to adapt to the day's conditions. It was pretty easy to get one lens out and install the other without instructions or YouTube. I wanted to see how they would fit for wider size range, so I had a friend's 12 year old son try them, and they fit him just fine too. The one drawback for me is it is difficult to fit glasses in them.
Great ventilation with excellent lens
Because I usually ride with a full face MTB helmet in humid or hot climates, I was curious how the Smith Rhythm MTB goggles were going to handle moisture. I was not disappointed. I am a heavy sweater, and full face helmets limit the ability to wipe sweat. The goggles had a surprising amount of airflow from the sides, but the foam seal prevented a drop of sweat from collecting on the inside of the goggles. The fit was snug but comfortable. They paired perfectly with my full-face helmet (Fox Proframe MIPS full face MTB helmet). The most pleasant feature was the ChromaPop tinted lens. I typically do not wear a tinted lens when bombing a downhill because they usually diminish contrast (making it difficult to discern if a dark spot it is a shadow or a wheel-bending root). These goggles with the tinted lens somehow had high contrast when under the canopy while still providing needed relief when biking up the return line in the full sun. For low-light riding, the goggles also include a clear lens and a microfiber carrying bag to protect the goggles in transit. The MSRP is a little higher than I would prefer, but there’s nothing about these goggles that are not awesome (don’t to the fantastic, nonslip material on the inside of the strap to keep them on your helmet).
These goggles are amazing
I received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. These goggles are amazing. The fit was amazing super comfortable on my face it didn’t press down into the bridge of my nose at all I could breath perfectly! The size was great. I wore a full face helmet and could see amazingly out of them without being obstructed by the edges of the lens. I love smith chroma pop - I think it’s the best lens tech out there and the red really gave me the right definition of the dirt. I rode a trail that was half shady and half sunny and had zero problem in the transitions. The thing I noticed the most about these goggles were the ventilation and airflow. 10/10. My face was cool and vented yet didn’t sacrifice any of the protection from dust and debris
Smith Rhythm MTB Goggles - rated "E for Excellent!
The Smith Rhythm mountain bike goggles are a great choice. They fit well, they stay put, and are hard to fog. I used these goggles at the Stottlemeyer/Port Gamble trail network near Poulsbo, WA. I first used the Smith Rhythm mountain bike goggles on my, non Smith brand, full-face mountain bike helmet. They were easy to put on. The face of the goggle strap that contacts the helmet has two strips of silicone. This keeps the goggles in place very nicely. The portion of the goggle that contacts the face is sort of felt-lined foam. It is soft and very comfortable. The shape rides a bit lower on the nose facilitating great field of vision. They felt secure but not uncomfortably too tight on my face. I can’t recall needing to adjust the goggles at any point during rides. I put them on and didn’t have to give them a second thought. They were comfortable and secure. So far, so good. I wanted to see how they’d do at slow speed, high exertion. What to do? Find a hill, start climbing! They performed well with minimal fogging. Not none, but not much. It certainly didn’t inhibit my vision. After topping out and heading back down, the bit of fog cleared quickly. The box they came in also contained a clear lens. It’s not super quick to change out lens, but it’s not difficult. When installed correctly the lens will stay installed. Perusing the Smith website revealed several available color and level of light blocking options. The Smith website states, “Low profile outriggers compatible with full-face MTB helmets.” How would they work on my non full-faced bike helmet? Actually, fine! They are equally easy to put on and stayed where I put them. They felt comfortable on my face. I like multipurpose tools and this is one. If you are looking for mountain bike goggles, I can recommend the Smith Rhythm Mountain Bike Goggles. They fit (me) well, they are comfortable, they stay put, and are difficult to fog up. Mine came with a tinted lens and a clear lens. They were inside a microfiber bag for your non scratch lens cleaning needs. Definitely keepers.
On par with typical Smith quality
These goggles are on par with the great quality Smith has become known for. After using these in the Poconos recently, I found them very comfortable to wear for long rides & can recommend them. The foam is soft but fit well & did a great job at keeping sweat from my forehead from running down into my eyes. With 2 beads of silicone on the strap, they never felt loose or insecure. Between the lens & the foam of the goggle is a large vent that goes the whole way around the goggle allowing for great airflow in the warm weather & prevented any major fogging issues. Most importantly, the goggles are large enough that I didn’t feel like my field of vision was restricted significantly compared to other goggles I’ve worn in the past. These came with a tinted & clear lenses. Personally, I preferred the clear lenses as I was riding in a heavily forested area, but I’m sure Smith makes a lens for all sorts of light levels.
Super lightweight and breathable.
Really good quality as expected with smith goggles. They feel super lightweight compared to other race goggles. Some of the best ventilation I’ve felt on a google and Integrate well with smith products. The lens quality is good but not my favorite as far as mountain bike goggles go. But if you are a fan of smiths feel and lens you can’t go wrong.
Best goggles
These have really good visibility with low nose bridge for optimal view. Very clear with no visual distortion. They breathe well. Optional screen sold separately is a must for keeping finer dust and debris out. Wish it was included.
