Sizing Notes

Allbirds fit true to size for most customers. If you have wide feet or prefer a roomier fit to accommodate toe splay, we suggest sizing up. If you are in between sizes we recommend sizing up for all styles except for Tree Runner styles (size down for those).

Possibly the best athletic shoes I've ever owned

Extremely stable, with enough stretch to be comfortable even with my extra-wide feet and enormous orthotics taking up space in the shoe. Very breathable, too; my feet rarely feel hot or sweaty. Plus, I love that they're more eco-friendly than many sports brands. I will definitely be buying more Allbirds in the future!

So incredibly small; unisex build, no female last

I ordered in my normal size, W11. Sometimes I have width issues (wide forefoot) but I am pretty religiously that side in all athletic brands except those with brand-wide wonky sizing. Note that almost universally, women’s sizing is the equivalent to 1.5 sizes down in men’s sizing - so a W11 is a M9.5 - but in Allbirds, they took that to the extreme and decided a W11 should be a M8. ALL of the shoes are 1.5 sizes too small, including on the men’s side. I ended up in a M10.5 of the Tree Dasher 1 after spending 2 hours at REI trying on shoes. I bought a half size down from my usual Women’s size in the Men’s section, y’all. That is how freakin’ tiny these shoes are. This shoe is so small I almost could not fit my foot into the shoe at all (there’s no tongue, just a stretchy hole your foot goes in… and I have a high arch). Toes smashed into the front and bent while standing, squeezed in from all sides to smush my toes together like it’s a climbing shoe. There are no larger sizes than 11 in W’s so you’ll have to go to the men’s side if you want Allbirds. The Tree Dasher 1 and Trailrunner SWT fit exactly the same in a W11 so the sizing seems at least consistent across the brand. I did buy from and return them to Allbirds and the lady in store said the shoes are unisex, which means this company has no female last and these shoes are not made for the ways women’s bodies are different; to them we are just tiny men with freakishly tiny feet. That being the case, it makes even less sense why they’d mess up the sizing so badly if it’s just a matter of matching a US size to a shoe. If you’ve got gigantic feet like me you’ll need to go to men’s sizing. If you care about your shoe being built for the half of the population you were born into, don’t spend your dollars with this “eco friendly but not female friendly” shoe company.

GO for Galápagos

I purchased the light Grey ones for a trip to the Galápagos. I loved them! They were great on the volcanic rocks and on the trails. They never really showed the dirt and were super comphy.. They directly well on wet rocks too!

Amazing!!

It's really great for long walks and easy hiking trails. Beautiful color and fit flawlessly on my feet. I am not sure about the harder hiking trail. We’ll find out this in mid-August. However, I have a bit concerned about the sole looks like having a gap in one of the shoes (right foot in my case). Is it meant to be that way or is it a defect? Overall I am happy with my purchase.

Just buy them!

I've had my eyes on these for a long time and never had a reason to justify the purchase. I had a trip coming up that I wanted for hiking shoes for and bought these. OMG these are now my favorite pair of tennis shoes I've ever owned! They are so comfortable and have great traction. I wish I would've bought them sooner! Even the packaging they come in is awesome!

Walking on clouds

These shoes are very pretty and most importantly like walking on clouds but a good grip on terrain/trails. Im usually a 6.5 but ordered 7 and fits perfect, so i would recommend a half size up.

Great on all Terrain!

At first, I didn't like the shape. I have size 11 feet and the top of the shoe is wider than most sneakers, so at first, I thought I looked like I had platypus feet. But I got over that real quick when I realized how comfortable they are! No blisters, no need to "break them in." I wore these shoes all week on my trip to Palm Desert, CA in March, where I walked on rocky terrain, desert area, climbed rocks (not the best traction for big boulders, but that's expected), walked up and down rocky hills (2 hr long hike of rocky terrain), and even went up the 8,000 above sea level mountain where there was 3ft of snow. Best pair of sneakers I've owned so far!

I love the wide shoe.

I love the wide shoe. I’m between sizes and I think I should have bought the 9 but took home the 8/12. It fits well however, once I walk with them I can feel my toe pushing toward the front. I have a half inch gap between my toe and the shoe when standing. My life issue in life has been that , when I buy a size 9, I trip on the shoes as if I’m wearing clown shoes, which is why I never by a 9. Overall, I love my new shoes and wear them all the time. I’m happy with my purchase. Plenty of wiggle room in the front. :)

Travel ready!

Exchanged for a half-size larger than my usual size right before a trip—no break-in time needed! Dressier than a sneaker or typical hiking shoe so they’re even cute with skirts. Very grippy tread and great for urban hiking but probably not for real hiking due to the knitted fabric around the ankle instead of supportive padding. Not sure how water resistant, however. Noticed a damp interior toe area after walking on wet sidewalks. Would be absolutely perfect for travel if waterproof.

Pretty color but not comfortable to me

My friend LOVES Allbirds & since these were on sale I thought I’d try them. They did not work for me at all. The came up really high around the ankle which was more annoying than uncomfortable. It felt like it would rub sores if I ever tried to wear them with short socks. I do have a high instep so that might be a factor. The rubber banding that ran around the toe also bugged. I’m not sure if it would have cause a sore but I couldn’t get past it. They’ve been returned.

Such great grip for the trails, cute too!

just took these for a four hour hike, the grip was great while everyone else was slipping and sliding I was grounded! They are cute too, most hiking shoes are ugly but these are totally cute tennies. :)
