Metolius PAS 22 Personal Anchor System
Whether you're getting ready to belay a second up a multi-pitch route or cleaning gear on a top rope climb, the Metolius PAS 22 personal anchor system makes it easy to connect to an anchor.
- Made with strong, double-wrapped 11 mm Monster webbing; each loop is rated to 22 kN
- Chain-link-style construction is more convenient and adjustable than using slings, quickdraws or daisy chains at the anchor
- Girth hitch the system to your harness, then simply clip into an anchor at any of the full-strength sewn loops
- Contrasting color on the end loop makes it easy to identify your clip-in point
- Can also be used to build an equalized top rope anchor on a climb with bolted anchors

Safety Conscious Climber's Everyday Carry
A PAS is always good to have, some people will improvise with a regular sling but the Metolius PAS provides multiple chainlinks to customize length without knots (knots in a sling or rope reduce strength, always). Great for cleaning anchors, setting up raps, tying into a ground anchor for belaying heavy climbers, whatever you need. The packaging even says you can use this as a top rope anchor on bolts. I've never tried it or heard of anyone using it like that, but it seems like a solid value add.
Great for tethering at anchor
Works great when tethering at an anchor. I use 2 locking carabiners for redundancy.
Great personal anchor
This personal anchor system was easy to use and reliable while cleaning a sport anchor.
Great, but be aware of the limitations
I use this for cleaning sport climbs. I like it better than the Petzl Connect Adjust because this product allows for some redundancy by attaching 2 carabiners through 2 different loops to 2 bolts. However there is still only 1 tether to the belay loop so the redundancy chain stops there. I do not know if the PAS 22 or using 2 slings is superior long-term. The PAS 22 is adjustable, but has redundancy limits. Using 2 slings may lack durability and be weakened by knot usage. The PAS 22 seems like the best option for me and I will continue to use this device for the foreseeable future.
PAS!
Useful personal anchor system with the different loops and length. Used this many times with no show of wear. Easy to clip into a shorter loop if I need less distance from a bolt or anchor.
Great Gear Addition
I primarily climb single pitch and this is a great anchor for quickly setting up to clean anchors. Super easy to adjust to the length you need. I put off getting one because I could do the same job with a sling, but I am happy with the added convenience.
SUPER THICK AND BULKY!!! PITA
The new model, bought in 2024, is SUPER bulky. I've been using the Metolious PAS 22 for years, and I don't know what they did but the new one is horrible! Throwing this thing out!
