I was excited to purchase the Lifestraw 1L GO. Bought two. Fast delivery and products received were not damaged. Read the specs of the product. It states clearly that the micro filter is good for 4000L. However, they failed to mention that the carbon filter is only good for 100L. This is mentioned on the box when I received my two water bottles. Now, I am having to replace filter much sooner than expected. This is exactly where this company makes their money, by replacement filters. BUYER be aware. Yes, I have made many comparisons and research on other similar water bottles with filters, those costs and delivery times. That’s why I choose Lifestraw.
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this bottle. I used it when I went to Mexico City so I didn't have to buy water and waste single use plastic bottles. My friends thought I was crazy for drinking tap water, but I never got sick! It was also good for the airport since each airport has different tasting water fountains and possibly not as clean as I would like. If I couldn't find a fountain I could just fill from a bathroom sink. It takes a little bit of effort to drink from compared to an unfiltered straw water bottle but I didn't think it was too bad. I look forward to traveling more with this bottle! Overall I would highly recommend and am very satisfied with this bottle.
Im traveling for 6 months and my lifestraw is my everything! I was having issues with my straw/filter and the customer support in their dealing with the issue was incredibly helpful and pleasant! So happy I’m back with my lifestraw
My daughter studied overseas for a semester. I knew she would be traveling to locations that may not have clean water available. She traveled with her university to Morocco for two weeks with a group of about 8 other students. My daughter was the only one with a Lifestraw filter and bottle. They did travel to areas where clean water was not be available.. My daughter’s lifestraw was used by the entire group. None of the students got sick. Lifestraw was an absolute necessity for this group of students. They all had a good trip and returned healthy. Thank you Lifestraw!
No leaking issues like others mention, easy to clean the lid and the canister. Mouthpiece works well. Water tastes neutral, which is good, I don't want a fishy smell or taste, or chlorine taste. Took to Mexico but still got revenge. Nearly impossible to avoid contaminated water there, ice in drinks, food, etc. While I do think this helped minimize the revenge, we were faithful and only drank from this, even poured bottled water into this. Now using to filter regular city water and works fine, no taste or smell. I will use and buy more filters and charcoal filters.
Love it! Very easy to use, water tastes great too!
While heading to boundary waters with 24 Scouters, safe drinking water became an important subject to broach. The staff at Northern Tier Base treat the lake water with iodine along the trip, but we were looking for an additional measure that was, 1. light, 2. reliable, and 3. left us with clean, palatable water. The life straw fulfilled this wish list with flying colors. The Life Straw conveniently attaches to our packs, adds no more weight than a regular Nalgene bottle, fulfills the requirement of a 'wide mouth' bottle and can provide clean water for 1,000 gallons. The company is pleasantly aggressive in it's 'clean-for-the-planet' stances with all the right certifications. Most importantly though, NO Giardia or Cryptosporidium is going to make our Scouters sick derailing our adventure! Thank you LifeStraw.
I got this water bottle because I can't stand the chlorine taste in my college's drinking fountain. This water bottle definitely helped with that!! The only to note is that a couple weeks after I got, the bottle would leak from the mouthpiece, whenever the bottle was not upright, which was annoying (and wet!). However, about a month after the leaking started, the leaking just stopped!
If you want everything in your bag to get wet then you should definitely buy this. Bought 4 as Christmas presents in anticipation of a summer trip to Ecuador and Galapagos Islands. Followed the instructions meticulously and filled after security at the airport. All 4 leaked like sieves when not kept perfectly upright. I read in some other reviews "make sure to keep upright to keep from leaking". This is an absurd requirement for a travel water bottle. An open cup of water won't leak if kept upright either, but you would never consider that a convenient travel item. Because we bought them as Christmas gifts and did not use them until the summer, the retailer is refusing to accept the return on this defective item (past 90 days). :( We ended up having to buy bottled water. At least we were able to fill our bottled water bottles with "safe" water at the hotels to keep down on plastic waste, no thanks to this faulty product.
Lifestraw is pretty easy to use and low maintenance. However the 1L is kind of big for someone with smaller hands, and when full it is very heavy to carry around all day. I think something this size should probably have a handle. I would not hook the carabiner to anything I was wearing or carrying. I might order the smaller size instead.
