Features

  • Widest field of view in the Prostaff series—456 ft. at 1,000 yds.—makes it easier to locate and track moving subjects, which appear 8 times closer
  • Phase-correction coating is applied to the roof prisms for increased definition and clarity
  • Dielectric high-reflective multilayer prism maximizes light transmission across the visible range
  • Often reserved for the highest-end binoculars, the diopter ring locks into place so you can set it and forget it
  • An oil- and water-repellent coating is applied to both the objective and eyepiece lenses; simply wipe away moisture, fingerprints and smudges
  • Waterproof down to 3.3 ft. in case of mishaps at the water's edge or if you're caught in inclement weather (not intended for underwater use)
  • The glass used is lead- and arsenic-free
  • Turn and slide the retractable eyecups for use with eyeglasses; extend them to your ideal position for comfortable naked-eye viewing
  • Dark green rubber-armored body provides nonslip grip and protection from the occasional drop or bump
  • Lightweight body uses strong fiberglass-reinforced polycarbonate resin

Great for bushcrafters

I put a harness strap on these and carry them around any time I go hiking or go for a walk on the road. It’s ramp season where I live, and these have helped tremendously when I’m trying to distinguish a patch of green across a dry riverbed - whether they’re ramps, bluebells or trout lillies. Saves me navigating through thorny bushes and such; I can tell from a considerable distance whether or not it’s worth working my way closer. These binoculars are small enough that I find I take them everywhere. My other pair are so large that they rarely come along with me. I recommend these for the casual hiker, birder, and forager. They hit the sweet spot for me.

Nikon Prostaff P7 8x30 - Nice compromise

I was looking for something a litter smaller and lighter than my Nikon Monarch 5 8x42, for bird watching and hiking but didn't want to sacrifice image quality. I wear glasses, so I needed an exit pupil larger than the 3.2 on my Bushnell 10x32s and a long eye relief so I can see the whole field of view. The Nikon 8x30 delivered on both. I am a discerning optics user and I was pleasantly surprised at the field of view, sharpness and color rendition of the Nikons. They are great! Personally, I find 10 power binoculars hard to hold steady and I am completely satisfied with the 8x. Beware of pocket binoculars with small objective lenses (25mm or less) if you want a sharp image. They seem hazy by comparison. The front objective lens covers do not have a tether, but they have a slot where you can attach some kind of retaining cord if that is an issue for you. I used a 20% off member coupon at the winter sale, because this was the only Nikon binocular not marked down and they are a great value at the sale price. They were delivered to my house 2 days earlier than originally estimated, which was a pleasant surprise.

Looking for a replacement

I could not get comfortable with seeing as well as I wanted to. I've used 8x32 and 10x32 binoculars before, I don't know if this is the difference. They are light enough and small enough to hike with around your neck . They stay clean and clear.
