Now that I’ve had ample chance to test out this jacket, I thought I’d update my review. It’s been nearly two weeks of snow and temps between 10° and 30°, often with wind. I’ve been out snowshoing every day, and what I can say is that this jacket passes the test. It might be the lightest weight jacket out there, which will be a huge plus for backpacking. It keeps me warm without extra bulk and cuts the wind. I give it 5 stars for that with a few notes that could improve the fit. Based on previous reviews, I sized up for room in the arms, and I’m glad I did. The arms are narrow and the extra room is just enough for comfortable range of movement. But in sizing up, the torso is a tad too roomie, but not bad. The pockets are nice and big and warm. The zippers are quality. I like that the hood had a bit of a brim to keep falling snow from my eyes but I might be more appreciative of a bit of elastic to keep the hood snug around my cheeks- not a deal breaker tho. My head stays warm and wear a beanie. The zipper takes the neck up to my chin, which is great for keeping warm. A wonderful jacket!
Extremely lightweight and amazing warmth. Dropping a star because the sleeves are slightly narrow/tight, where the rest of the jacket fits perfectly (sleeve length, torso length, chest and waist width). It still fits well enough to keep, but it's weird. You wouldn't fit anything more than a thin layer underneath. Most likely because - like so much outdoor clothing - it's a women's jacket designed by a man...?
Love it, unique lavender color for me. Fit very well. Unlike other review said arm is too tight. I don't like bulky shoulder and up arms, as most of the coat. This one snugs my arm nicely. It compliment body shape well. Especially the back low edge slightly longer than front and curved, cover rear partially, which makes wearing leggings more elegantly especially when you want the moderation according to the age. The edge of the hood is sightly elastic tightened so covers head and face better than most hoods of other coat. For me, it's best for wearing a few degree above or below zero weather. I am 5.3, 115 lb. Ordered XS.
We couldn't find the package after getting a delivery notice and discovered that the delivery service (not the USPS) had stuffed the package into our mailbox. However, the delivery method left the jacket loft completely flat after being stuffed into the mailbox. Ordered a medium and will have to return it for a large. Looking forward to trying it out!
I tried on about 6 different down jackets this was the lightest weight for the lowest price. I live in a mild climate and wore the jacket in 40F It was actually too hot especially in the armpits. I’d start sweating quickly and then I’d be damp and cold. I realize that I prefer a jacket that has some breathable, stretchy panels in the underarm gussets. I do like that the sleeve length is plenty long for my long arms. And the hood keeps my neck and chin warm. The arms fit me fine, not too tight. My muscular Apple shape body has thinner (but not skinny) limbs with most of my fatty tissue in my 38DD chest and midsection. I wear an XL in most women’s shirts and a sz 12 in pants shorts. 190lbs 5’8” This jacket packs up great for backpacking which is the main reason I bought it.
Big Agnes knows what’s up! On sale it was a great price. My go-to jacket had been a great synthetic, but I really wanted to try out down. At 8oz this jacket packs some serious warmth. It feels incredibly well made. I agree with the other review, that the sleeves run slightly narrow. I went with a size up for my usual and am happy with the fit. Not as trim through the torso as I might have expected but still a nice fit and room for layers. Color is the photo is spot on.
This jacket is incredibly warm and oh so light! The color is amazing! The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is that the arms are pretty tight. It almost feels like the body of the jacket is an XS (the size I ordered) and the arms are an xxs. I have to be choosy about what I wear under it. As it’s so warm, I don’t need my thinker sweaters. Where I live it doesn’t get extremely cold, so I kept it.
