Very uncomfortable design
We've had great luck with the K2 Marlee roller blades for a couple years (yay adjustable sizing!) so I was hopeful the Marlee ice skates would be equally nice. But the design is pretty awful on these ice skates. The inside of the rigid tongue cuts down into the top of the skater's foot, making it very uncomfortable to wear just standing still for a few minutes, and would be extremely uncomfortable with any actual skating. Maybe there is isn't an overall design flaw and just the pair we got was just a bad apple? Because I don't know how this skate design got past the testing period. We are sending these back and going to get comfy regular ol' non-adjustable hockey skates. Thanks REI staff for having such wonderful customer service as always! Every person I've ever spoken to at REI about anything has been kind, knowledgeable, and helpful.
CHECK THE PACKAGING
These ice skates have been great for my 6 year old and seem to be very comfortable for her. I actually like them enough that I've decided to look into an adult pair for myself. I noticed the other review that has been left for these skates and wanted to address it. The skates have a cardboard packing in the toe for shipping purposes...I also overlooked this until my daughter complained that her foot just would not go in correctly. There is nothing wrong with these skates at all in my experience and the clasp rather than laces makes for a much better fit that keeps the child's ankle from rolling.
