Great Recreational Skates
These are great skates for cruising around. I’m a beginner/intermediate skater and tried rentals a few times at my local outdoor rink. The rentals were uncomfortable. I previously owned hockey skates which I found to be uncomfortable as well. These are nice and comfortable for having fun on the ice. I believe these are the lowest of three possible grades of this skate. They have fairly traditional laces, one Velcro over the ankle that secures your lace knot, and one ski boot style buckle. Great support and comfort. The higher grades have fancier options for the portion that uses laces. But, these seem to work very well. Definitely a good value and a huge improvement from rentals or inexpensive hockey skates.
Good skate for beginners
I've been using these for the past year on the ice. I'm a beginner/intermediate level skater and haven't been unduly hindered by their performance. I've found them to be far above the quality and performance of rental skates and have allowed me to learn the basics without having to invest a lot of money in the sport. Pleased with the purchase, no complaints.
Blade set too far in.
The blade on this skate is set too far inward so that you'll feel like you're pronating outward. It makes it hard to balance and feels very odd when you pick up speed. The Bauer Whistlers I had prior feel like a massive upgrade over these just in terms of stability. I was bummed that these didn't work out.
