Can pack down smaller!

Iv had the long version for 3 seasons now, it's been great! Before I got it I read some reviews that where critical of the stuff sack...they said it seamed like it didn't reach its smallest pack down size in the provided bag. So I got a 10L roll top dry bag with air escape valve and it pack down into that much smaller(as seen in the pic beside the provided bag). Although I don't and wouldn't keep it in the dry bag long, just while um tripping. After the trips I keep it in the storage bag that came with the bag to keep it nice and loftee the last trip I was on I fully unzipped it..put my feet in the toe box and used it as a quilt in between me and my r4 insulated sleeping pad, which is essential to get the temp rating out of any sleeping bagstill loving the cats meow after 3 years!

Just ordered my third Cat's Meow

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great bag for 3 season camping. I use mine on monthly Boy Scout campouts and summer backpacking trips to Philmont Scout Ranch. Each of my Cat's Meow bags have lasted me 10 years. They've been stored in a loose stuff sack when not in use, and used about 20 nights per year. After about year 7 a blanket above and below becomes a good thing in 30-40 degree weather as the bag starts to lose its loft. Each time I've replaced one of these I've looked around for better options, but for the weight and size (small and light enough for multi-day backpacking), warmth (good for any night between 30 and 60 degrees - add a liner or blanket between 20 and 30) and price, I have found nothing better.

Ripped hood

My 9 year old loved this. But, after about 10 uses the stitching in the hood ripped. Then a rip on the bag. Emailed x2, with no response about warranty.

Roomy and Water-Resistant

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have owned several North Face down bags, including the Blue Kazoo and a -40F Inferno. Last week we gave the Cat's Meow a try in cold, very damp weather in the Rockies. We set up the tent in a 35-40F rain / snow mix, and it was wet inside the tent. Overnight temps got down into the low 30s, and it was continually wet outdoors. The Cat's Meow maintained its insulating value, though we think you should plan on wearing your insulating clothing inside the bag under those conditions. Note we packed the bag after that rainy night, and then unbagged it at home and check all the surfaces of the bag for water absorption. Good news, it very dry. I have to say under those conditions, likely a better choice than a 20 degree down bag. The DWR works.

Bought 4 of them!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It started with the 1st one for my daughter. She was warm, cozy, and the hand warmer is cool! She grew to be a taller kid, so I wanted it so she had more space for a blanket on the end, so I got her the long one and gave the other one to my youngest. We will finally be camping as a family and decided to buy 2 more, one for each of my boys. I love the north face brand camp gear. My husband and I have the inferno sleeping bags, so the family is set!

Great bag, would buy again

I am 6'1" and 220#...the North Face XL size bag has been good for me, over several bags, over several decades. The TNF cut is just perfect for me...not too tight, not too heavy. I find Marmot bags, for instance, to be too snug. I sleep in a bag about 60 days a year; I sell my bag when it hits 10 years old (for, maybe, 40 bucks) and buy a new one. As far as warmth...temp ratings are, of course, a fiction. The only thing you can be sure about is a TNF 20*F bag will be warmer than a TNF 40*F bag. For me, the Cat's Meow is solid down to the high 20's*F, if I am on a pad and in a tent. Especially, if a trip is mostly above freezing with the occasional cold night. If I was going on a trip with nothing but < 25*F, I would take a warmer bag. Sleeping under the stars, or under a tarp, is very demanding as far as bag warmth goes...good luck with that.

Love it!!! Soft, warm, roomy!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I camp in the Boundary Waters 4-5 times a year in Summer, Winter, and Fall. So far I've used this bag on 3 summer trips and absolutely love it. It's incredibly soft and I kept it open - more as a quilt, with my feet in the bottom. I love the half up zipper and so glad I ordered it long. I'm 6 foot and love that it is a little roomier as a long bag. Can't wait to bring it in the Fall. This bag is definitely the Cat's MEOW!!!

Good purchase

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Used for the first time while in Alaska during late summer in varying conditions. It was comfortable for both cold and damp conditions in the high 30s-40s at night. Although in colder conditions (around freezing or lower) I would suggest good base layers and clothing for extra warmth. Packed fairly light for my purposes and seems to be built to last. Excited to continue using this on future adventures!

Trusty Cat's Meow

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use this bag year-round. It's packable enough to take on multi-day backpacking trips, but not expensive enough to break the bank. I get a little warm in the summer and a little cold in the winter, but nothing proper layering and venting can't solve. I always feel like I'm prepared with this bag. A sleeping bag like this opens up doors to so many possible adventures! Get it.
