Stable & warm!
First off, these boots are the most stable winter boots I think I've ever had my feet in. I fell on ice a month ago wearing different boots and hurt my back. A friend recommended Korkers because I also have issues with keeping my toes warm. Best decision I've made for myself. I can walk in slush, snow, snow/ice uneven ground and not feel like I'm going to skip. I've tried on at least 60 boots this year and these have been the best. I feel safe in these boots, and I don't even have the ice studs on them. The BOA "laces" have also made a huge difference in my life, because I'm not always able to use my hands to grip and tie things, so the pop and twist has been a game changer.
Excellent Boots For Everything Except Hiking
These are great boots, but, in my opinion, they have a particular use case. These boots are not for rigorous winter activities like snowshoeing or hiking. How they implement the BOA system virtually ensures you can't secure your heel how you need to. In these boots on snowshoes, your heel would move up and down like a piston, causing blisters. These boots are excellent for walking around after a snowstorm, snow blowing, ice fishing, and walking in icy conditions if you purchase the specific ice track sole they sell. You can remove them quickly and easily, and you’ll never have to worry about soggy laces again. How to improve them? I'd add a second BOA system lower down the laces to help secure the heel better, and I'd have a Vibram Arctic Grip sole so you can walk both indoors and in icy conditions without having to make any adjustments.
Could be a lot better
Well I was hoping these would be nice. They are built well and have a unique concept. Hence the 2 stars. Other than that they suck. Lose 1 star for very cheap insole, lose 1 star for poor fit. They simply have too much volume to be effective at insulating and I do not have a low volume foot. I guess that's 2 things so minus 2 stars there. Not waterproof in rain. Minus 1 star. Probably ok in the snow but in the rain all day your feet will be swimming. I guess this makes it 0 stars but since you can't offer that I will give 1.
Almost amazing
I could have given these 5 stars since the boa feature is great and they seem well made. However the fit is odd. First thing I noticed was the footbed was a little hard and basically flat. ) Support in any way. Some may like this others may not. Any easy fix with an off the shelf insole but that will add another 50-100 bucks. The toe box feels slightly narrow but not too bad. There is volume (height) but not width. What is odd is the heel is very roomy and I get heel slip and I by no means have a narrow heel. I definitely have heel lift in these. This could be remedied by having the boa system attach down by the heel for the second attachment down. If the fit was better or even just normal (aka too narrow for me I would give 5 starts but the wide heel and narrow tow is odd. They are warm. After 5 minutes trying them on my feet are feeling hot. I'll probably keep them and see if a pair of insoles will help take up the volume thus reducing or altogether getting rid of the heel lift. After breaking in a bit I may be able to get the boa system tighter as well. Good thing REI has a 1 year return on shoes.
An amazing winter boot
The pros: Great grip, warmth, waterproof, ability to change soles, the super fast ease of the BOA tying system The con: Seems a bit wide and or deep in the heel and not in the toe box. My feet slightly slide which is caused by the heel of this boot being wither to wide or to deep. Im going to try and get insoles to resolve this issue. Ive heard others say the same thing. I use these boots to run ski lifts as a second job for extra moneyvin winter. I do a little bit of walking and work about 20 hours a week in them. I dont think they are fully broken in yet but they are comfy for the 2k ish steps i do do in them a day. But if i had to walk more i think the heel part allowing my foot to move inside the boot would start to become an issue. Overall i would still recomend these boots because the pros far outway the cons. But maybe get some insoles that have a higher heel that dont allow for heel slipping. Then this boot will be perfect.
Great boots.
Great boots. Easy to get on and off. I suggest going up a half a size. I’m a size 11 but needed an 11.5.
Korkers with BOA
They were comfortable boots. It took a day to break in. They kept my feet warm and dry. The BOA system was easy to use and made it easy to get in and out of the boots.
Happy in Alaska
Good boots so far. Had them for a month, ordered the ice grip soles, which are amazing on ice. Boots are comfortable and warm down to 25 below zero. We live in the Alaska interior. I appreciate the BOA system for getting them on and off quickly and easily. We don’t have very wet snow, so I can’t offer a review on how waterproof they are, but these boots seem to wick well as my feet tend to sweat a lot.
Have really loved these boots so far.
They have been comfortable, and easy to take on and off. I haven't purchased any other soles, but expect to get an ice version at some point.
Best Boots Ive ever owned
These are by far the best boots I have ever owned with just the smallest issue. I am a courier in a winter wonderland that goes in and out of hospitals. Whether the boots are wet or not they squeak on carpet and on concrete. I thought it was just because they were new, nope. I've had them 6 months now. They still squeak. Maybe I need a softer tread?
