Silicon on straps turns into a gooey mess
My wife and I received a pair each as a gift. Love the fit and performance but unfortunately experienced the same gooey mesh as the other reviewer. This happened after just 2 uses. Not exposed to any heat. The silicone on the strap is coming off and getting all over our helmets, into the vent holes, and fouling the goggle lenses. I have cleaned the helmets twice with rubbing alcohol and tried to remove the remaining silicone from the straps but it is pointless. The goggles are useless. If we continue to use them it will ruin our gloves , helmets and anything else in comes in contact with. Hoping Smith responds with a replacement. Don’t buy these. There is no reason for the silicone. That’s what the retention strap on the helmet is for! There are other comments online of the same issue.
Nice pair of entry level goggles
These are a nice pair of goggles and I have skied with them a half dozen times. I have no fogging issues and optics are clear. I have the RC36 (which means only 36% of the light is transmitted), and that works on both cloudy and sunny days well. These goggles are true OTG (over the glasses). I do flex them slightlly larger when removing them off of my face to ensure they don't grab my glasses. I've had trouble with other OTG truly fitting over glasses. These definitely work with glasses. Pro-tip: if your goggles do start to fog, just simply lift them off your face and ski for 10 seconds. The wind will completely evaporate any fog.
Smart purchase
Got a pretty clear view even when wearing my glasses under the googles. Plus they didn’t fog!
Wear Goggles in winter after cataract surgery
These Goggles do for me what I needed. I walk most mornings and snow shoe in afternoons. I found the cold and wind bothered my eyes after cataract surgery. Now wearing Goggles have solved my problem. I am out again.
Manufacturers defect- grip dots on headband melted
After only wearing these a handful of times, I took them out this year and the grip tape or goo, on the headband had melted into a huge mess. The lenses are totally fine and they were comfortable when I did wear them, but I can't even touch them now because they are a huge sticky mess that gets all over everything. They are going straight to the trash unfortunately...
Goggle Strap Mess
I purchased a pair in Nov 2022 and used them for one ski season. When I took them out of my ski bag for a recent ski trip, I found that the bead of silicone (or whatever material it is runs along the inside of the strap to ensure it doesn't slip on the helmet) had become all gooey, almost like it melted. It made a mess of everything it touched, particularly my helmet. I spent an hour or so cleaning it off both the helmet and removed as much of the goo from the strap as possible so I could use them the next day. My wife has very similar Smith goggles and hers were fine even though we both store them in our bedroom closet when not in use. The goggles themselves are fine, and fit nicely over my glasses, but I'm not sure what caused this to happen. Unfortunately, I have missed the return window, but because of this, I will be looking for a different goggle next time.
Fogs up with glasses
If you’re not exerting any energy, these work great. However, once you start moving around, the goggles and your glasses get super foggy within about 30 seconds. I bought these for my husband and he ended up having to just ski without his glasses on. Will be returning - if you don’t need an OTG feature, these work great otherwise!
Too small and doesn't work with my glasses
I wear a large helmet (59-62.5) and these goggles say size L, but found them too small to use with my glasses comfortably. Would have been nicer if they goggles was a centimeter or two wider. The goggles work fine when I use them with contacts.
Definitely recommend
Really appreciated that they are larger so that they covered more of my forehead when snowboarding, especially in 10 degree weather. They never fogged up which was also really important and great. Honestly wasn't sure what to expect since they only had two options at the store, so am really satisfied with how these turned out!
Great fit, bad strap
I love these goggles. They fit over my glasses and don't fog up too much. However, after three uses, the non-slip material on the inside of the strap has become extremely sticky and comes off all over my helmet, hands, gloves, glasses, whatever is close. There are no replacement straps and the warranty is great if you still have proof of purchase after 2 ski seasons. Bummer.
