Wore out after a few months
Worked great for a few months, but started being a toss-up as to whether they'd actually transmit a charge to the battery. I contacted BioLite support, who sent me a replacement, which was nice, but that did the same thing – a few months of functionality before no longer working. I'm still able to get it to work occasionally with a few minutes of fiddling with the connections between the panels – if I smoosh them just right I can get them to work, but usually requires me to have the panels at a sub-optimal angle and/or I'm not sure that all the panels are actually working so end up with a trickle of the charge I could be getting. Seems to be a design flaw – something about the connection where the panels fold seems to wear out. TLDR - I wouldn't buy them again – would rather pay more money for something that's of a better build quality/design to last more than a few months and work consistently.
Great product but one issues which kept it at a 4
Great product except that if it’s over 100 degrees it will shut off and not charge. Just be mindful of the conditions your in. They shut the power off here in the summer heat for “safety” reasons so I use my 1500 Base Camp to run the refrigerator and a light and charge electronics. I do love the fact it is highly portable and easy to use to charge my Base Camp.
Been loving this unit!
I've absolutely loved the Solar Panel 100! We've taken it to Moab and on several extended 10-day camping missions off-grid. I was looking for one that would be versatile in charging both my power station and small electronic devices when set up. This checked all the boxes for me. It's lightweight, easy to store, and reliable.
Awesome!
We have 2 and love them. Connected together, there's enough power to re-charge our power station in just a few hours. I love that the panels fold up and are stackable for easy storage. So far, we've been super happy with them!
Great when the sun is really hot!
It seems that this panel can deliver almost 100W at the hottest and sunniest days. These are not very common, usual power delivered is 80W. Materials and design are superb. Havent checked the product in humid conditions.
Amazing product
Took this camping with the Biolite Base Charge 600, and while on the roof of vehicle in direct sunlight, charged the 600 from 80% to max in no time at all. Would be even faster if orientated for perfect sunlight.
So easy to use!
I had never owned a solar panel before getting the SolarPanel 100, so was worried it would be confusing to use. The product is super intuitive, sets up easy, and charges my power station really well.
Solar panel - not great.
Most charge with full sun I’ve gotten is 52watts. Middle of July, hot sun. Shouid be getting way more charge from the panel than I’m currently getting.
Hi there, Thanks so much for sharing your feedback. The maximum amount of solar energy available at any given location in the world varies by time of year (i.e. season), latitude, time of day, cloud cover or haze, and ambient air temperature. If you're not getting the full 100W, you may not have optimal sun conditions. The peak rated power is given at standard temperature and a standard solar irradiance value. Power output will be lower if the irradiance is low for any reason.
Works well. Output not tested
Day 1: I purchased this panel because I was unable to locate a smaller hand held that seemed to work based on the reviews for charging phones. I decided to go with something larger and chose this 100W panel. I have used it once to charge two phones. February, Oklahoma, 70º. It charged an iPhone XS from 5% to 90% in about 50 minutes. The phone stopped accepting a charge because it got hot. So I switched phones/cables and took another phone increased 20% charge in about 25 minutes. The second phone I placed in the shade. :-) I found the panel easy to set up and the sun dial useful and easy to use. I did adjust the panel to align the sun dial about every 30 minutes. Also, I was in a wooded area so there was some shadow from trees (I'd say ~10% shadow). I only gave it 4 stars because it has 2 USB A ports and a single USB C. In 2024, that is very antiquated. It does pack down nicely and that will be a benefit. It did get hot so I let it cool in the shade before putting it away. Also I will mention, mine arrived with a damaged box. It was dropped on the corner (it's pretty heavy, they say 9.5 lbs but I will say, without the handle, it would be much more difficult). There was no (zero) internal packing (other than a piece of paper covering the panels). I was pretty sure it was going to be damaged but I was not able to visually see any damage. It seems to work fine but I would think some internal packing on the corners is warranted. Since it's a 100W panel with USB C at 45W I would have given it 5 stars if it had 2 45W USB C ports to work simultaneously.
