Bombproof pants for the money
Received free product
Bombproof pants. The pants are lightly insulated but they are waterproof and fit well. The pants are well made (expected from Patagonia), but even if they start to show their age, the Patagonia warranty is incredible. I had a jacket my dog chewed a hole out of looking for treats and Patagonia repaired the damage no questions asked. Back to the pants, I am 6'3", 225 pounds. Typically wear a 34 or 36 in pants (depends on the brand). The large pants had enough length and the waist was just about perfect. I think these make amazing everyday ski pants. Would recommend them in basically any weather. They aren't going to be as waterproof as Goretex, but for 95% of use cases, they fit the bill (and are priced well).

VERY COLD!
I tried these pants twice in the Pacific Northwest under very moderate conditions. Temps were in the upper 20 to low 30's and I froze each time! These pants are COLD! They are very thin, which makes them very flexible, However, they don't seem to be wind proof so ridding a chair, or doing a groomer at speed were very cold. The wind seemed to go right through them. They are very waterproof, and the fit was amazing, but I needed something with more thermal protection. They fit pretty tight so there wasn't a lot of room to add a ton of extra layers that I would need to make these usable. Even in moguls and tight trees I couldn't maintain enough heat to stay warm. Sadly disappointing, as the fit was great. I am short and finding a decent fitting pant is very difficult. These fit great, and had wonderful pockets, but too cold for downhill. I think they'd make a great XC, backcountry, or snowshoe pant

Really great Ski pants, with excellent features

Received free product

These pants are excellent for me, I used them downhill skiing, and a bit of cross country too. They have a lot of excellent features for making them comfortable and practical. I like the belt loops that allow me to use a belt for keeping them up! They are not insulated so I wear Patagonia Capilene long underwear underneath in the appropriate thickness for the current weather. Down from there, LOTS OF GREAT POCKETS! In the past ski pants didnt have hardly any pockets, these have a lot, for phones, keys, cash wallet id whatever, and thats great! They have vents on the back of the leg if it gets warm, usually for me that's in the lodge when I am grabbing food. Then at the botton they have a reinforced area inside the ankle area to help them not wear out when skiing or even walking and banging my boots together. Really nice pants, I highly recommend them.

Good ski pants, fit is a bit weird

Received free product

I received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. Historically I’ve used lighter ski pants and not the more insulated “resort” style pants even though I tend to get cold easily. These are interesting because they are thicker than just a shell but still don’t have the heavier insulation. Even then, I found them to be about as warm as thinner pants but that’s fine for me. Wind tends to cut through them easily though. Their backcountry chops are increased by the inclusion of a Recco reflector, which is a nice bonus whether you use it or not - it adds flexibility. Other nice features include an abundance of pockets and, while you see this in most pants, there’s an internal belt to optimize fit without having to bring an extra belt with you (even though there are belt loops). They also have liners to fit over your boots, including a front clip to either attach to your laces or a gaiter clip on your boots. That’s really nice for snowshoeing. My biggest problem with these pants is the fit, and that’s why I knocked a star off. They work but some of the design elements just aren’t my thing. I typically wear my pants with just a 250 weight merino base layer and even then they’re pretty tight around my waist while being extremely long, leading up to bunching around my knee (which you can see in my pictures). I have a 30” waist and 32”-34” inseam, depending on the brand. Even then, the pants go all the way to the ground when I put them on without a boot. The waist itself is pretty tight and limits the amount of layering that I can do. I’m on the fence about the bottoms. They’re flared out like bellbottoms and unlike some ski pants do not have a boot zipper. This doesn’t keep snow off of my boot buckles since that gets sprayed upwards from the ground. At the end of the day when I’m hitting up the apres I like to unbuckle my boots, and this kind of gets in the way. I can’t say it’s bad, but for me it’s different. One nice thing about the bottoms, though, is that the part that goes over the boot and rubs against buckles is thicker so it will last longer. Overall, these are great ski pants and I’d recommend them except for the fit - I highly recommend you try them on in the store before buying them along with whatever clothes you expect to wear under them.

Rad ski pants for full days of skiing in the cold

Received free product

These are some of the warmest, most comfortable ski pants I've ever worn - not to mention they are chalked full of storage options. They are perfect for a brisk day of on-piste skiing or even a tour in very chilly conditions. Favorite features: - Four pockets (two of which zip) to store wallet, keys, and snacks - Waist system is super comfortable and secure enough to keep pants perfectly in place during vigorous runs & chill chair lift rides (especially when paired with a belt) - Right leg pocket has a loop for securing an avalanche beacon for those side country runs - Large vents on both legs allow you to dump heat if you decide to tour uphill or afternoon temps just warm up - Tab at the back of the waist allows a secure connection with the Powder Town Jacket's snow skirt (to minimize snow in the pants during a pow yard sale) Overall - these have become my go-to resort ski pants for anything other than the warmest days of the ski season

Excellent snow pants

Received free product

Pants fit a little larger than expected but overall are incredibly n comfortable and offer excellent mobility. I tried them on with my ski boots and have no issue with them. They slide over the top with no problems. I love the pocket locations and these will likely be my go to snow pants. They have cargo pockets on both legs that store anything you need access to like your cell phone or wallet. They also have two easy access vents you can zip up or down on each leg. It has belt loops but you really don’t need them thanks to the integrated Velcro waist adjustment. The pants are incredibly water and wind proof. I haven’t had a chance to ski in them yet but I did assemble a temporary garage in the snow and with temperatures around 20F. Even when it was windy and I was kneeling in the snow I didn’t feel anything. They are fairly thin and lightweight but offered excellent insulation. They subtly matched the jacket and offered fantastic mobility. I would recommend them for any snow sports as they don’t restrict your movement at all and are incredibly warm and wind resistant.

Disappointed with Incorrect Sizing

I ordered the Patagonia Powder Town Pants in Belay Blue, but unfortunately, I received the wrong size (XS instead of my actual order). While the pants seem well-made and stylish, the inconvenience of receiving the wrong size has been extremely frustrating. To make matters worse, returning the item involves high shipping costs, which I am expected to cover, despite it being the company's error. This experience has been disappointing, and it feels unfair to bear the burden of their mistake. Customer service has been slow in resolving the issue, and I wouldn't recommend ordering unless you're prepared for potential hassles with sizing and returns.

Favorite ski pants

So...I ski pretty frequently and relatively hard, often popping in and out of trees and various backcountry terrain. I've been using these pants for the last 2-3 seasons and THEY ARE STILL GREAT! They are relatively warm (although I usually still have a base layer under the pants), always keep me dry, and handle really well against strong winds. Only minor point of feedback would be to add 1 more pocket on the left leg, but that is also just personal preference. It already has 3 pockets, which is pretty standard for ski pants.

Quality ski pants

I bought these on sale, with an additional reduction on a member coupon, without seeing them in a store. Typical Patagonia quality. The inclusion of belt loops is a plus, along with hook and loop waist adjustment. These pants are not insulated, and I run warm, so on cold days I pair them with silk underwear. Side vents along the outside of the thighs help dispense excess heat. Reinforced fabric on the inside ankles protects against ski edge abrasion. Today I skied in falling snow, which the pants shed easily. Last week while skiing, it rained, and I stayed dry and comfortable. These are good ski pants.

Waterproof??

I bought these Patagonia waterproof Powder pants and wore them for four days last week at Vail. The fit was great, the comfort was great, and the warmth was good. But it snowed on us one day and while sitting on the chair lift, snow accumulated on the front thigh areas on both legs and they were visibly wet! Not sure about their claim of "constructed with 2 layers of waterproof protection".
