I can’t speak to how it holds up in the elements yet, but as far as fit, it’s about as good as it gets. I am 5’4” and just about 160 with a pear shape / wide hips. I tried two other coats (Carhart and Marmot) before this one, and for both the medium was too tight but the large was gigantic (in the upper body). I got a size 12 in this (black color) and it’s a very nice fit throughout, only docked because the sleeves are slightly long. I saw someone on Reddit recommended this brand for women with wide hips and they were right, so if you’ve been struggling to find a long winter coat and you are a pear shape, definitely try this.
I searched for months trying to find “my” coat. I love that this coat is both stylish and warm. Functional yet flattering. I am 5’2” and 140 pounds. I usually wear a size 6-8 pants, and otherwise a Medium. I tried the 8 on in the store and it was very flattering and could zip up over a sweater, but it felt snug around the chest. I opted to size up to a 10 so that I would be comfortable on really cold days when I need to layer. I think the 8 was a bit more flattering (without the stuffed sweater), but the 10 still looks nice. I also noticed that the brand sells a petite on their separate website which I didn’t know about. I’m sure petite would have suited me better but the regular is not too overwhelming at all. Sleeve length is longer (it usually is) but not terribly long like Fjallraven. Overall, the coat feels expensive. I feel like a dressed up Italian woman lol. I love the pockets, it definitely feels like it will be my go-to coat for years. Very easy to wear and flattering for a winter coat. Not sure if I would use this for skiing but it’s going to be my every day coat.
Was nervous to buy without there being any reviews but I’m really happy with the jacket. Very warm, great weight. Flattering mid thigh cut, and the sides and hood are both adjustable. Nice all around details, lots of secure pockets, and I appreciate the glasses wipe bungee on the inside. I’m usually a 12, sometimes 10 or 14, and I ordered a 14 to have room to layer. I could get two sweaters underneath if I wanted to, so your size or one up is the way to go.
This jacket is exactly what I was looking for. It is beautifully made. The color is great and it is as warm as I need it to be in the 20s Without any additional layering. The only fly see is when you take off the hood, a piece of rough Velcro remains unless you have your hair completely under your hat it rips your hair out all they need to do is add a small piece of Velcro, so that when you unzip the hood the remaining piece, which is very small, could simply Velcro back down to the body of the jacket. Otherwise it is a lovely coat and exactly what I wanted.
I have been searching for a jacket for skiing this winter that could also double as a nice daily winter coat without looking too... ski bro, ha. I genuinely have zero negative things to say about this jacket (miracle among miracles!) so I'll give a list of the things I love. - Gorgeous fabric inside and out. Feels and looks luxurious. Didn't expect that from a waterproof jacket. - Lots of great pockets inside and out - love the addition of the cord w/ clip to hold a lens cloth for goggle cleaning. - Adjustable hood for when you are and aren't wearing a helmet. Can also remove the hood and the fur from the hood as desired. - Perfect length. I'm 5'5" and it hits mid thigh. While somehow also having room for my bigger hips. - Adjustable waist elastic to keep in the warm and give a flattering shape! The elastic doesn't connect to the outside layer of fabric, just the inside. Initially bummed me out but once I put it on it actually looks way more sleek this way while still giving a nice slight hourglass shape. (My partner immediately said 'wow that looks amazing on you!') Fit notes: true to size with some room to layer. I'm a super curvy with measurements of 39/30/43 (med/lg top, 10/12 bottoms) so finding a coat that will remotely fit my hips where I'm also not drowning in bulk around my torso is near impossible. I ordered a size 12 and it's just ever so snug around my hips with a base layer and snow pants on, which is exactly what I hoped to find outside of getting a jacket custom tailored for me. Bust/arms/waist is a perfect fit. So if you're curvy like me and expect/don't mind the hips to be a lil snug anyway (where my big booty girls at), I recommend at least trying the size that is catered to your bust and waist measurements. I moved and squatted and jumped around with all my layers on and it will be absolutely no problem while skiing or hiking. Warmth notes: I live in west Michigan and it's still in the high 20s/30s here, but it kept me toasty on a very windy hike in the 30s last weekend with just a shirt underneath, so it does a solid job protecting from wind. I will update this again when we start to roll into teen and single digit land. But with the appropriate layers I can't imagine it won't do just fine. I hope Obermeyer never stops making this jacket. I will absolutely be wearing it until it dies of old age (which I expect to be a while, it's incredibly high quality) and I hope when the time comes I can just order it again. (Final note: the black color has a slight blue base so it will look ever so slightly navy in the sun. I think it's pretty, but worth keeping in mind. My snow pants definitely look more black than this jacket.)
Very nice jacket, although somewhat of square cut so not fitted/flattering but very practical and warm! Was enjoying it until the zipper broke within 2 months of normal use. Hoping that REI or Obie will replace it without hassle. Fingers crossed it was a fluke.
My husband bought this for me as a Christmas gift and it’s perfect. It’s incredibly warm and I love the length. The hood can be adjusted to fit perfectly without falling in my face and the pockets are convenient. My phone fits perfectly in one of them. Love the color, too.
Absolutely gorgeous coat. If you need to stay warm, this coat is for you… In 20° weather I did not even need a bass layer. The only thing is the top of the pockets are extremely narrow… I can’t fit my whole hand in them so it’s really hard to retrieve smaller things in the bottom of the pockets.
This jacket is cute and warm, but not for the rain. You have to take off the furry trim or it gets soggy and gross. And then the hood doesn't come out far enough to cover your face!
Extremely warm, functional and pretty stylish jacket to boot - kept me warm in heavy wind in freezing temps with just a light layer underneath. I did size up so I could fit more underneath but turns out I didn’t need to, but nice to have the option. All the pockets are so helpful and the details (snaps on the back vent, removable fur and hood, even the goggle wipes) make this my favorite winter coat and I don’t even ski. Better than coats over $500!
