I bought this last minute on my way to South Bend after seeing the forecast for wind chills in the teens and snow. The forecast was accurate. I could not stop raving about the coat and how comfortable I was....so much, my companions suggested they had heard enough. Perfectly warm, water resistant, and the pockets were awesome, especially the hand-warming pockets on the front that are open all the way to your armpits. I am writing this after wearing the coat 5hrs today.....best coat I've ever had. Totally worth it. Totally recommend.

Good jacket but one thing drives me crazy

The coat fit is true to size. Keeps you at a comfortable temperature. Great pocket selection just remember which pocket you put your phone in. The one thing that is incredibly frustrating is the zipper. You may have difficulty starting the dual zip zipper. It can be frustrating trying to connect the zipper . Looking into it there is a tape that can be used to make the zipper ridged which I believe will make the connection process much much easier. I like the coat but hate the zipper with passion. If anyone has a fix please pass it on.

Best Parka I have ever had.

I’ve had my jacket for two years and it is a beast! Best cold-weather parka I have ever had. I’m writing this review because a cold front just blasted through here in Ohio and I am an amateur meteorologist. I stood out in this storm with 60 mile an hour winds snow blowing, and the temperature plummeting to windchill of 0°F and I was completely warm and windproof in my parka. I have never been cold in this parka and all I had on this evening was a T-shirt. I am literally going to buy the black one at the end of season when they go on sale for around $360 but if I needed one now, I would buy it now for the full price of $500. It is that good.

Excellent Parka

I bought this about 6 weeks ago to replace my 15 year old Patagonia down Parka that they would no longer replace the down in. It is wonderfully designed and constructed, and very warm and weatherproof. I would expect it to last many many years of winters. Pay keen attention to sizing; I went to the Fjallraven website for the full statistics and converted them from metric to get the best fit. (I think that the REI site needs more information about Fjallraven sizing in this regard.) I ended up with the XXL when I usually get a L in other brands. The parka fits perfectly over a suitcoat which I find handy for wearing to the courthouse and again, is very warm and comfortable. It is very easy to layer under provided you bought the right size. I have gotten a great deal of compliments from others on the look of the parka, though I care more for its utility. It's certainly expensive, but you really can't go wrong with the Nuuk parka.

Very good. Sleeve length/hood likely dealbreakers

I wanted to invest in a good quality parka so I could be lazy and not have to always worry about excessively layering every time I wanted to go outside in the cold. The Nuuk definitely deliver in that aspect. It's been about 0 [F] and below zero [F] here in Minnesota the last few days so I've been able to get a good feel for how it performs. And with a 250 g/m2 wool baselayer and a 400 g/m2 wool midlayer this was perfectly fine for keeping me comfortable on a half hour walk(could've been more but it was near my bedtime). Unfortunately there are two aspects that are seriously making me consider returning it: the sleeve length and the hood. The sleeves are about 2 -3" too short. If I keep my hands at my sides it's no problem, but if I outstretch my arms in front of me, reach to tie my shoe or just lift my hand up to my face the sleeves ride up my arm and expose a significant portion of my wrist. What's more, there's no elastic cuff at the end to help seal around the wrists like some jackets have so unless you have long gloves or mittens you'll have cold wrists. Granted, my midlayer was able to cover my wrists but for an expensive parka designed for extreme cold with so many other clever design features, it seems like a design fail when my relatively cheap midlayer needs to compensate. This is weird considering many FJ reviews on other items complain about their long sleeves eg: I love my skogso padded jacket and pack down hoodie which are some of the few garments I've bought in recent years that accommodate my longer arms. Either they should've made the sleeves longer or adjusted the stitching where the sleeves meet the rear of the Torso so that it allows the sleeves to cross in front of the chest without becoming constricted. The hood is conflicting also. I immediately removed the faux fur as it's just annoying and obstructs my view. The big issue is there's a bendable wire within the brim which allows for some adjustability of the opening but it resists the drawcords. The hood opening is pretty big and there's a large gap between my lower jaw and the hood which catches a lot of wind and let's in cold air. Normally you could just cinch down the draw cords to shrink this gap and prevent excess air from entering but the wire in the brim prevents this. The more you cinch the cords the more it just pulls the top of the brim downward. Really the only way to resolve this issue is to wear a face mask to keep my face warm. Again, it seems weird I have to rely on a cheap face mask to compensate for the shortcoming of a $500 parka. I'm conflicted if I will keep this. For reference, I also purchased a Kuhl Wyldefire Parka to test also and amazingly, the sleeves are plenty long with good mobility, something I've had trouble with on Kuhl tops over the years. It's much more minimal in its features compared to the Nuuk - the Nuuk has more pockets on one side than the entire Wyldefire parka lol. The Wyldefire is not as warm but not by that much less and it's a lot lighter being a down/synth filled garment and the outer fabric is not as durable feeling at the Nuuk. If the Nuuk only suffered from one of these issues, the short sleeves, or the hood, I'd feel more confident, but both of these together has me leaning toward returning it. Still a really nice item.

The Worst Zipper of All-Time

The coat is extremely warm and feels well made, however it has the WORST zipper I’ve ever had the displeasure of using. It has taken over a minute to zip up multiple times. The zipper is currently stuck halfway up so I have to slide it on and off like a hoodie. And I bought it on sale, so I can’t return it and get anything even remotely comparable on warmth for the same price. This is the first and last piece of Fjallraven gear I will buy. I’ve literally never even written a review online but I feel compelled to tell you not to buy this expensive jacket with a zipper that would feel cheap on a dollar store duffle bag. Extremely disappointed.

pleasantly surprised.

I was hesitant purchasing this jacket because of the reviews in regards to the zipper being an issue. However, I will say that I haven’t experienced this problem at all (maybe it has been resolved by the maker). The quality is exactly what you would expect from Fjallraven and the size fits like it was tailored. I’m 6’ and 220lbs and purchased the XL. I spend my fair share of time in the woods and this jacket is amazing for those activities but on top of that I can also wear this out in town without looking like a mountain man. I would def recommend this anyone looking for a parka that fits all the bills.

Great parka

This coat is one of my favorite winter parkas. I have about a dozen of them in my closet. Fairly warm, looks and fits great, warm hood that snugs down around your head nicely, won’t wet out for hours in driving rain. Lots of pockets, faux fur ruff keeps snow and rain away from your face. Too heavy for hiking, for ocasual walking it’s great. The zipper (like all Fjallraven zippers) works fine and easily, once you learn the technique (line up tightly and completely straight the two “female” parts, and insert the zipper into both parts completely. Sit down if it helps.)

Great jacket, maybe don't size down

Great jacket. Very high quality, probably too many pockets but it's a parka so whatever. I read over and over to size down. I usually wear a large but I got a medium. Out of the box, it felt good. Sleeves were appropriate...until I reached my arms out in front of me. Then they went up to about 3 inches past my wristwatch. The reason is that it's a little tight across the back shoulders. Returning for my normal size, which I suspect will be too large in many respects but should fix the sleeves. Will see. Sadly, I got this on sale and in the return, no sale price available.

Amazing coat

I’ve had this jacket for over a year, and I absolutely love it. It’s one of the warmers I’ve owned. It has a ton of pocket space (I literally put a puppy in it), and the hood keeps the snow and wind off your face. 10/10 recommend. The only negative is it takes a while to dry.
