Perfect boot for me:) Boot is supportive yet lightweight. I hiked rainy, wet, muddy terrain in September, Zion Utah. Feet stayed nice n dry. Wear heavy or lightweight socks according to weather and feet stay happy. The look and style is spot on as well as the comfort. Ordered feather, gray/olive night. Complaint, my boots arrived stained. I did not pack them on my first hiking trip to Palm Springs because I had intentions to return them. I didn’t want to go through the hassle, so I packed them on my next trip to Zion. I had fun dirtying them up real good so now you can’t see the stain. I’ll be packing theses boots on my next trip, Israel, 2023.
These boots have already saved me on multiple occasions already this season! We just moved to the Midwest and I didn’t have any shoes that could keep me active in the colder and weather weather. I thought I would only use them in the worse of conditions but it turns out I have used the boots everyday now that the temperatures have started dropping. The traction is something special. I have walked in snow, trudged through slippery mud, walked across our icy deck and no matter what I have so much stability. They are comfortable, easy to get on/off, and my feet stay super dry. They feel like a running shoe in the insole. I highly recommend them and I’m so glad that I have them to use all winter long!
Wore these for a week around Iceland and in rain and snow my feet never got wet! I brought two pairs of shoes on the trip but wore these the whole time because they were so comfortable and easy to put on with easy laces. I walked on some sketchy slick rocks and they had amazing grip and I never felt like they would falter. I did have to size up to a 9 when I am normally an 8.5 but otherwise they were great.
I have enjoyed wearing my new Cross Hike 2 Mid Gore-text boots. As someone who is flat footed, these hikers provide fantastic support. There is ample cushion, and a great standard insole already in the shoe. I generally try to choose a shoe with ankle support, and this shoe provides plenty. A bit higher than my old hikers, but I think the extra support will be helpful. The toe box has extra space and good for wide feet. I have bunions, so I appreciate that. I definitely think this is a better shoe overall than the original cross hike because the fit of the overall shoe is more accurate and does not run as large as the original. I am excited to put more miles on this shoe. So far so good!
Extremely waterproof my feet stayed dry and warm in 30 degree temps, wet snow and mud. They provide great traction on every surface from wet roots, muddy leaves slick rocks and snow and slush. I was confident in my footing to keep up with the dogs and left the trail with my feed as warm and dry as when I started!
Things I like about this boot: the amount of grip/traction is insane/they are practically cleats, the drawstring style close is easy to use and avoids stops to re-tie, they are very waterproof (at least for the first few wears), they don’t require breaking in and are pretty comfy out of the box. Things I don’t love: the shoe is quite narrow and I typically prefer a wider toe box, the drawstring closure doesn’t give a ton of ankle support and loosens up a bit as the shoes are worn, I would prefer a little more arch support than what these offer (after a short few mile hike, I had a sore arch which is unusual for me). Overall, these boots seem to be a pretty solid choice. They run true to size. My partner has been using the men’s 2021 version for over a year now and is a huge fan of the overall comfort, ease of use, and durability of the boot.
After wearing the tread down on my original CrossHikes to next to nothing this year, I was due for a new pair. Lucky for me, the CrossHikes 2s are even better than the original, and I wasn't sure how or if that was possible. The main difference I am noticing is the support around the ankle seems to me more sturdy than the original CrossHikes but not to the point of being restrictive. I'm a big fan of these shoes and recommend them to anyone who is looking for the grip of the Speedcross with a bit more support around the ankle and goretex protection.
I recently finished the Manaslu Circuit in Nepal and my Salomon boots were my best friend and most trusted companion. I have foot arthritis and plantar fasciitis, but during the trek I had no issues. My Salomon boots felt very comfortable the entire time trekking the Himalayas, and now that I'm back they are the only shoes I wear. They look and feel great. I LOVE them! I trust Salomon so much I just order another pair of trail shoes so I have another shoe option. Thank you, Salomon!
I have worn these boots twice. I was SUPER excited to try these as I previously had the Salomon OUTline mid GTX. Although I had both pairs in the same size. I found that the Cross Hike 2 had a more narrow insole and smaller toe box. The boots are also marketed as made for mixed and technical terrain. However, the outsole at the tip of the toe box is already peeling off. Do they still work? Yes, but considering I’ve only worn them twice…I don’t think they’re durable.

I have done many strenuous hikes with the Salomon X Ultra 3 Low GTX Hiking Shoes for the last 6 years. That shoe fit me perfectly and I only decided to upgrade because I started getting blisters with the old one and have several difficult hikes lined up. Decided to stick with Salomon since I've had very good experience with the Ultra 3 and like the lacing system and chose a boot for some additional ankle support. I bought this in a hurry a couple days before an intense hiking week and was skeptical after reading some negative reviews and the somewhat steep price point. I hiked and backpacked for a total of 40 miles with this shoe right out of the box. It was super comfortable, no blisters or any other issues. Love the ankle support but it might require getting used to. A lot of people have complained about the lacing system. I had no issues with it. You just tuck the extra lace in the small pouch up front like the old pair. These remained pretty clean as well after some muddy hikes. Some reviews have said that the laces tear easily. Only time will tell how my laces and the shoe in general holds up to the wear and tear I usually subject it to and I can update this review accordingly. In general, some shoes are more suitable for some feet than others. This shoe is meant for a narrower foot like I have. The lacing system also maybe doesn't allow you to tighten it as much a normal pair of laces but the maximum that it does is good for me.
