Nice winter jacket

This is a very well made jacket which would be good for the colder winter months. I live in Colorado and it kept me very warm in 20 degree weather. I think the fit is true to size (5’5” 125 lbs size small). The boxcar color is very nice. I think I would prefer a longer jacket in temperatures cold enough to wear this one but it is a very nice jacket that would likely last for years.

No longer an athletic cut in the shoulder
Chlodusa
Overall a very warm and sturdy down coat. I have the prior shorter version which I love, but thought it would be nice to have one long enough to cover my backside. I wish this was simply a longer version of the original coat, but it is completely different. The baffles are larger, the cut is more square and not athletic, the zipper is problematic, and the hood is enormous. The shorter version has a very athletic cut which means that there is plenty of room in the shoulder to raise your arms over your head and be active without the coat lifting up or feeling tight in the armpit. Even though I chose a size larger in the newer/ longer coat, it's actually a little smaller in the shoulder and any arm movement lifts the coat so that it no longer covers my bottom. I will just continue using the shorter version, unless the next update reinstates the athletic cut with a longer length. The fabric is the same and very high quality, if you just need a good looking solid, and warm down coat this is it.

Warm for moderately cold weather, but awkward hood

Warm - though it’s not likely to stand up to the coldest Minnesota winter days. The fabric is stiffer than other jackets and almost feels like being a sleeping bag. The color is lovey, and I’m 5’10 130 lbs, and the medium fit well. A couple of features that make this jacket stand out: snug fit at the wrists helps protect against the wind; higher pockets keep my arms pulled in tight when my hands are in the pockets; and there are great inner pockets for extra storage. The biggest drawback is how huge the hood is. It’s almost comical how it swallows my entire head. While this theoretically helps keep my neck and face warm, functionally it makes it difficult to do much, including see.

Beautiful color!

True to size fit and color is beautiful! Like others have mentioned, the hood is bizarrely large Overall a good winter jacket for being out and about and not wanting to be weighted down by a long parka.

Goes with everything, goes anywhere coat

This is an easy to wear coat. It is super warm - almost uncomfortable to have on in the house while I get the dog ready for a walk. It is a great length for aerobic walking with friends as it is above the hip flexor. The color is perfect with anything you wear and stands out among so many black coats. I was puzzled by the hood, which seems oddly shaped. But in a particularly winding, drizzly morning, I loved that it stayed up and kept my head and face dry and warm. And I suspect it meets a certain style standard as my 17 year old daughter has been wearing it to school as the days get colder - and this is a teenager who hates to wear a coat. I received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review

Warm, Excellent Quality, and Great Fit

couldn’t be happier with the Thorium Down Hoodie! The quality is outstanding – from the durable materials to the solid stitching, it’s clear this jacket was made to last. It's incredibly warm, even in cold, windy conditions, and keeps the chill out without feeling overly bulky. The fit is slightly oversized, which I love; it allows for easy layering underneath and gives a comfortable, relaxed look. It’s been perfect for outdoor activities and everyday wear, and I appreciate how it holds up against colder temperatures. Overall, it’s worth every penny for anyone looking for a reliable, high-quality down hoodie. Highly recommend!

Warm comfy coat

I bought this coat because I needed something warmer than my arcteryx atom. I like that the hood covers your whole head and the length is long enough to just cover the butt. It keeps me nice and warm. The only thing I wish, is that they made the shape of the coat slightly more flattering. It's quite boxy. It also fits larger than other arcteryx styles. I'm an xs in the atom heavyweight, but in this coat an xxs would have had a more flattering fit, unfortunately because of the boxy shape, I had to purchase the xs to make sure it would fit around the hip area, leaving it quite spacious around my upper body.

New sizing is off

I bought this as a replacement for my other Thorium AR that was destroyed in the wash. The quality is great, but the revised fit is awful. It's *huge.* I'm consistently a medium in all Arc'teryx products and I would have to size down to a S or XS to make this fit. It's also very, very long in both the torso and the arms. What's odd though is that the new cuts don't fit in the shoulders properly -- the whole jacket moves if you move which means it's not good for much other than sitting around a campsite or strolling in the city. This isn't built for movement. I am 5'10" and 135lbs for reference.

Wow, just wow

I received a complimentary item to test in exchange for an honest review. This is an amazing jacket. It is a lovely dark sage color, not too flashy or tacky. The cut is quite generous, especially in the arms where a lot of manufacturers tend to scrimp. I normally buy a size large, although I am 5’6”, 133 pounds, so not really a size large but I need the space to layer or fit a sweater underneath. This jacket is sized generously enough so that extra sizing isn’t necessary. But the best part is the jacket itself. It is clearly engineered to withstand wind, and as I live near Lake Michigan and I am wearing this jacket in December the wind here can be, shall we say, quite brisk. The jacket stands up to the wind so it’s definitely warm. It is not, however, too heavy. Again, great engineering. I can throw it on, go for a walk along the lakefront or a walk through the forest, and I have the perfect layer, warm, comfortable and roomy enough for extra layers if it got really cold, but light enough to withstand cold. A final added benefit is that the coat has about an inch or so of length on the bottom, so it doesn’t ride up, it doesn’t hit on an unflattering hip point, but it’s not too long to navigate a trail, or to climb out of my SUV. Great job!

Suit of armor.

Brought this piece for my lady and she is absolutely pleased with it. As a stand alone she says it’s great, coupled with the kyanite hoody. It’s comparable to a suit of armor. Warmth, stand alone in 25-30 degree Fahrenheit with a windchill and a real feel of 20 does the trick just fine. We’re both pleasantly surprised by its pack ability. Only complaint is the hood, but to be honest it just may be knit picking at that point. She said and I quote “I wish the hood and the collar wasn’t attached.” Other than that great jacket. Maybe the only down you would want to own outside the Cerium.
