Forest Preschool must have
Purchased these for my 4 year old son to wear for his forest prechool this winter. We aren't into the bitter cold yet (hasn't been below teens/20F yet) but so far so good! He wants to wear them everywhere, so that tells me they are comfortable. I've only felt the inside wet once or twice when he's waded onto streams with high water that came in over the top. Most days when I pick him up he is covered head to toe in mud and I strip off the rainsuit and boots, he's completely clean underneath - including dry feet! He also runs, scrambles up rocks and trees in these boots so flexible enough for play. Will definitely purchase again!
Very practical winter kids boot
This is our second year ordering these boots. I first hesitated due to them being more expensive than the cheaper boots you can find at box stores. But what I have found is, I have an eight and six year-old boys. They are super tough on their clothing and even with them playing tough I'm still able to pass them down in excellent condition to my younger son and then even pass them down again to my nephew . My kids have wide feet too. With the handles, it makes it very easy for them to put on boots by themselves. We live in western New York and get a ton of snow and these are the perfect boots for the winter.
Awesome winter boot
I bought Bogs for my sons (10, 12) this year because the brand I had been buying them for the last 7 years barely makes it through one winter with the level of play they do now. We live where there is snow on ground from Thanksgiving into April and my kids are outside for hours many days during the week. The boys love how the Bogs feel on their feet and often put them on when we're just running out to dinner, etc. They have been well tested in the snow already and feet have stayed dry and warm. They seem like they will hold up better because the material is much thicker and there are no fabric seams.
Love these boots but always wear through the lining
I have purchased a pair of these boots every year for my kid for the past 3 years. We live in the PNW so we get lots of rain. These are comfortable and warm and totally waterproof. My kid has bunions on both feet and they have never complained about pain after wearing these boots all day at school. My only complaint is that they start to break down less than a year after purchase so we can't donate them after they outgrow them. My kid wears through the liner in the back of the heel of each boot. Wish we could replace the liner or get a patch.
Great Boot!
We purchased these boots for our two year old son. We ordered a size up and they seem roomy but just right for a wool sock. They are very cute and easy to get on and off. Sometimes they fall off but he's a wiggly little boy so it's understandable. I'm overall impressed with the boot. The only con is the temperature rating of -30. We live in Michigan and after playing outside (with wool socks too) his feet still seem a little chilly. We rarely go outside below 20 degrees so I know we are definitely above the rating. I'm not sure if it a boot issue or if he is just prone to chilly toes. His feet do stay dry though. We had issues with baby bogs and wet feet, but the company remedied the issue with new boots. I plan to continue to buy bogs in the future.
Bogs Boots for Nature School!
Bogs donated winter boots to Honeybee Nature School, and it has been the best thing for the school! The school is an outdoor, nature-based preschool so the kids are outdoors in all weather conditions. Bogs boots are the only boots that I have found that keep my student's feet warm and dry while playing the snow and rain all day. My students prefer bogs boots to their own rain boots because they are much more comfortable, supportive, and easier to run around in. My students wear these boots during our soccer clinics when it is cold or rainy and they absolutely love them. I really can not even express how how wonderful these boots have been for my students and my teachers! They have really improved the quality of outdoor play for my students. Thank you Bogs!
Different from the classics we always bought
My son has been wearing the same style classic Bogs with handles for the last 10 years. They always fit the same and he loved them. We live in the country, so he ends up wearing them all year. This time around he said that it felt like the top of his foot was being squished, while all around was almost too roomy. He couldn't get them off fast enough. So bummed. The quality otherwise seems to be similar. But if your foot is thick from your arch to the top, these will probably be difficult to get on and off.
A tad tight in the calves
I accidentally ordered this in a size 6. All my other boots are size 5. Imagine my surprise to discover there's very little difference between the two sizes. While the boot is comfortable in the foot, it seems the calves are slightly narrower which is unfortunate. I'm a very small adult woman but the women's boots are cut too narrow for my wide feet. The larger kids boots fit me well, or they used to. I own several pair of Bogs as they are perfect for taking my dogs to the muddy dog park in my town.
Contains latex, but great boots
My son has a latex allergy and I did not even think to ask if these contained latex. They do, as evidenced by his red and swollen feet when he doesn't wear thick enough socks. These are the first boots he has worn that he hasn't been able to destroy and he hasn't complained of cold feet once this winter. I wish they advertized the latex contents and offered a latex free version. If they had I would give 5 stars. If your kid doesn't have a latex allergy, get these boots!
Very good boots .. could use better grip tread
This is our son's second winter with these boots. We are in southern Ontario, Canada. They are easy for him to pull on, durable, and beyond a shadow of a doubt water-proof and warm. The only thing I'd recommend to improve is the tread, perhaps having something comparable to the women's Arcata/Whiteout. As they are now, it's difficult to climb grades in snow as they tend to slip. Otherwise, the boots are amazing. Completely worry-free for school and trekking around.
