4yo want to wear pants!!!

This pant is durable yet moves. It has held up to kung fu and Spiderman crawls on the floor. My 4 year old is not picky but this is the pair he is excited to put on and asks for. This pant is potty training friendly because the adjustable drawcord once set has an elastic the allows it to stretch to pull on/off but still stay secure at his waist. I hope this can come in more colors so it can look like my kid changes his pants.

The latest iteration of these pants cut out most of what made them awesome to begin with. They no longer have double knees, they ditched the internal sizer swapping it for a drawcord and I can't quite tell but I think the fabric might also be a little less quality. The previous version was perfect and my go-to for my kiddo when I saw them being phased out I had hopes something better or more colors were on the way but sadly not the case. Two-star value at best.

Adorable pants, two snags already though

I was excited to get these pants for my kids to wear during forest preschool, hoping they’d be a good fall and spring pant. The good: adjustable waist, comfortable fit, and quick-drying, water-resistant fabric. They are also super cute on. The bad: after a handful of wears, they already have a small snag on the front upper leg and in the back under a pocket. I’m hoping these stay snags and don’t progress to full-on holes, but regardless, I was hoping for a bit more durability in a garment designed for toddlers to wear outdoors. I got my daughter Kuhn-brand pants and hers are still pristine. Will update on performance as the school year progresses.

Why are these only offered in toddler size?

Why oh why did you take the boys sizes of these pants away? My sensory kiddo loved them and I cannot find them anywhere. Please bring them back!

Horrible Changes!

Why all the changes?? These were terrific pants for travel and outdoor adventures at a nice mid-weight that accommodated travel climate changes and all season use. Now I can no longer purchase them for my short legged 4 year old as the loss of the cinched ankle makes them too long for her. But more importantly - a drawstring waist cord???? Toddlers need a quick up and down for bathroom breaks like the button adjustment provides, not a drawstring to figure out. The new version removes all independence.

Perfect for New Walkers

As soon as my daughter could string together 5+ steps indoors, she wanted to do all her own walking and hiking outside as well. Her little knees were getting really scraped up from constantly falling on pavement and rocks, but she was undeterred, which meant that she kept reopening her scabs. These pants have reinforced knees and a durable material that were a perfect fix for the problem. After 6 months of wearing these approx. 2-3 times per week, they still fit and look great, no rips or tears. The adjustable waist and jogger ankles have helped them fit well the whole time.

Great hiking pants for littles!

Finally, performance fabric you’d expect in a hiking pant, sized for tiny adventures! I am so happy to have found these. Kept my little guy comfy, cool and bug free on his first backpacking trip. Thanks, REI, for understanding that toddlers deserve to be comfy in the same outdoor clothing as grownups- if they stay comfy, they stay happy and LOVE the outdoors.

Quality, comfort, and longevity

I looked for a while before finding these hiking pants, hoping to find high quality, affordable cost, and comfort. These pants have met and exceeded my expectations. They cost more than I wanted to spend, but the quality is apparent. Our little one says they are very comfortable, which is the best test for whether to keep them. And even better, I bought these long because the adjustable waist will extend the longevity of these pants.

Your 2 YO will thank you (if they could talk)

Your toddler would thank you (if they could talk). The market is slim for hiking toddler pants. I bought the only three that I could find for my 2 year old and this was only one worthy of 5 stars. Breathable, durable, and very resistant to water. My guy was not listening to me and jumped in the creek water. Went to change his diaper and it was somehow completely dry.

Outdoor LO

These are the perfect pants for a LO who loves being outside. My fair skinned child loves being outside in the dirt, but I’m always concern about him getting burned. These pants are light weight and durable for him to do what wants to do outside without me worrying about him getting too hot or getting sunburned.
