I am an experienced hiker, and bought (directly from MErrell) these shoes to compliment my more durable hiking boot. I wanted these for shorter desert hikes, and overall fit is great. I cannot complain for the comfort factor of these boots. I bought these boots in June 2023, and within 4 months of light/cxasual use the boot is beginning to fall apart. I have submitted a warranty cliam but I am very doubtful that they will remedy to solution and say it is wear and tear. Pro: Fit, COMFORT, easy to lace, relatively water resistant! Cons: Only con is that they are not durable.
I took my Merrell s to the snow on my first venture. W/ my feet fully in trenched in snow throughout the trip I felt not a single drop after 8 miles of hiking. No aches or pain in my feet
Mine made it a little past 2 years and 100 miles before the waterproof membrane in one boot failed. It's a shame, I absolutely loved them.
I bought these specificly for a Mountain Trek. The whole trek was around 115 miles summiting 4 Mountains, and they where comfortable. After I got back the fabric had ripped where the bottom lase connected. I keep wearing the walking 3 miles about everyday. The threading is coming undone. I've owned them for less than 5 months.
I bought a pair of these for my high schooler about two months ago. After a few weeks of breaking them in on his walks to and from school, and two backpacking trips totaling about 50 trail miles, the boots have failed. The eyelets are not reinforced, and as a result the laces are sawing through them. Near the toe, the laces have cut almost all the way through. It's a fundamental design flaw that makes the boot fragile, and in certain circumstances, unsafe.
After wearing these boots for ~1 month the foam next to the laces has torn a hole, the fabric on the tongue of the shoe has also partially peeled off and the top of the tongue the fabric has started to degrade. The waterproofing works though and they have great grip on the trail which I am a fan of. Overall the boot is nice but the quality is horrific, I would not buy these boots again because I do not trust the foam not to rip
These boots have surprised me. Once I tried this boot on, I immediately felt comfortable having them on my feet. How light they are was surprising at first, the cushion without insoles as well as the padding on the upper support felt lovely, and the fact that they are waterproof boots that look and feel like sneakers amazing. So far, it’s hard to complain about these boots. I will be using these as my go to backpacking boots for as long as they last. Once they are ready to be tossed for a new pair, I will be sure to come back and provide a more in depth review on these boots.
Solid hiking shoes. Needed a replacement of some other Merrell boots and these got the job done. They’re pretty breathable, and waterproof. The material on the toes seems like a vinyl mesh and helps keep your feet dry while walking in wet tall grass. They feel a little loose overall out of the box, but I recommend pulling the laces in from the front to comfort, and cross lacing at the top hooks which I didn’t do at first so they felt off the first day. The white rubber soles might worry you about them getting super dirty and stained, but I took these through dirt and muddy terrain and they seem to somewhat clean easily.
I haven’t owned more comfortable hiking shoes as these. They are my absolute favorite pair and they look amazing. I get at least one compliment every time I wear them.
I bought these in June 2023 and have about 750 miles on them. Weight 180, 6’ tall. For me, great fit and comfortable like all Merrill shoes. Nice light weight summer shoe. Downside - the tread is about half gone. The sole is detached from the upper fabric of the shoe. They leak now. The shoe shows dirt and is hard to keep clean. While hiking rocky terrain small rocks can be felt now through the sole. They do not hold up like the Moab. I typically get 1200-1500 miles, 5-8 months from Moab 3 and replace them when the tread is worn smooth and leak.
