I clipped the sheath to the clip that is on my PFD. First time out, I lean over and it fell out on the dock, could have lost it in the water. I removed clip from "square thing" on my PFD, and I used a fairly large zip tie to thread through the square thing (not the elastic) and the sheath clip, there is no slack for the clip to be depressed and come out. Large zip tie is the key. It is a good knife great features, I wouldn't use it to filet fish or cut branches, keep it sharp for emergencies.
This knife feels comfortable in my small hand and I like the multi-use aspects a lot. It also clips in and out easily with one hand. My only complaint is that, despite washing it thoroughly, it makes my hands itch very unpleasantly. Probably me, not the product; I must have a sensitivity to the rubber used on the non-slip handle. So, great knife for boaters of all kinds but don't buy it if you have sensitivity to rubber.
This knife is sleek and functional. However, I made it down the river once whitewater kayaking, and halfway down the river rafting before the whole thing was at the bottom of the river. Wish it was a little more secure for the actual physical requirements of rough whitewater.
