K2 Skates Smooth as Silk
Overall, I really like these K2 in-line skates because they are Super smooth regardless of the surface you’re skating. They have nice 80 mm cruising wheels, and a very lightweight shell for longer skating sessions and workouts. It also has three adjustments for fit: speed lacing on the front of the entire skate, a Velcro strap mid skate, and a buckle for your lower shin and calf. The result is you can ultimately get a pretty great fit with these. After a longer skate session, my feet felt good with no pressure points, and benefited from pretty good ventilation. I’m generally a size 10, and these size 10 skates were a bit big on me, which I addressed with a good pair of inserts. That’s why I didn’t give these K2 a five out of five rating.
Great ankle support, speed and a slick design
These K2's are super comfy and snug. The dual straps tighten them just right so they feel like a part of you and they didn't disappoint when starting to blaze through the trail and do a couple small tricks. Not sure if its the bearings or the wheels themselves but you can pick up speed pretty quick. Ill admit that I am little rusty on my skates but I felt right at home throwing these on and not worrying about falling with the brake on the right skate. Ultimately, the ankle support, the quick tightening system and the speed on these is just right, along with a decent slick design. I would recommend to someone wanting to jump back in to hitting the beach path and getting a little exercise.
Another Rockstar Product from K2
I received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. I have been an active Inline Skater for over 30 years. I really enjoy the sport and find it a great way to train for skiing and other aerobic and balance intensive sports. The K2 F.I.T 80 skates are a nice improvement over my current K2 skates that I have owned for 10+ years. They are lighter, fit nicer, and I really appreciate the speed lacing system. The old shoe lace system has been replaced by a nice speed lace system similar to triathlon racing shoes. The skates are comfortable and more agile than my previous model. The wheels are a bit softer and provide more confidence at speed and in the turns. The normal braking action is also smooth and responsive. As a parent I really like the reflective 3M-type reflector on the back of the boot. This provides a nice bit of safety and helps drivers see us in the darker hours of the day. The fit is much improved, as they are a nice normal width with a decent amount of room in the toe box. The shoe size is spot on all normal shoe makes, so feel free to go with your normal shoe size. No need go up or down a size. The speed lacing system is a nice touch, and it can be easily replaced over time with normal wear and tear. It also has a nice "T-bar" for easy application of pressure for precise fit and adjustment as necessary. The boot also has a velcro power strap for heal lock and a ski-boot style rachet buckle for calf fit and stability. K2 is an excellent brand that has been making quality skis, ski boots, snow boards and snow board boots for decades. They have been an outstanding provider of inline skates, and these new F.I.T 80 Pros provide further testament to their outstanding and award winning product line. If you are looking for a fun way to stay in shape, maximize balance and improve on-mountain skills in a dry land environment, then these skates are a great way to stay mountain ready in between seasons or ski trips.
Very comfortable and fun entry skate
I've had the skates for two weeks now and used them around the neighborhood streets on both newly paved and rougher roads. A great way to hang up wreaths! Generally these are very comfortable skates, easy to get in and out of once you figure out the K2 speed lacing system. Rolling up the laces and tucking them in the sleeve on the tongue is a nice touch and will keep them out of the way when skating. I have a narrow foot and felt that they fit well with no movement in the boot. The boot is very comfortable even after an hour of skating around. There is a lot of flex in the boot and cuff which was new to me and took a little getting used to. I've skated with stiffer boots before that offer more support, however I could see myself spending hours in these and be very comfortable. Given the softer boot I wouldn't use these for aggressive skating over long distances or playing a lot of road hockey. They'll do in a pinch if you are playing with the neighborhood kids though. The temps when I used them were in the low 50's so was very comfortable. The boot material seems like it will breathe well in the summer too though I wasn't able to test that. The rolling resistance is OK with medium soft wheels that grip well and likely won't wear out as fast as softer wheels. The bearings are mid-level for rolling resistance. All in all my assessment is that this is a comfortable, quality entry level skate that will be a lot of fun if you are not looking to push it too hard.
Great Pair of Comfortable and Aesthetic Skates
The K2 F.I.T 80 Pro Inline Skates fit very comfortably after not having worn a pair of skates for a while. I normally wear a size 12 shoe and went with the size 11 for the skates which fit me perfectly. The brake is on the right foot but looks simple enough to swap over onto the left side if you want. Overall the pair is very comfortable, looks nice aesthetically, and rides quite smoothly.
Fun skates if you can get them tight enough
These are all around fun and enjoyable skates but the one thing that prevents them from being a higher score is the leg strap can’t get tight enough because the plastic strap bends the wrong way. With the leg strap not being tight enough the skates wobble around the ankle. The shoe part is the correct size.
Ok for a beginner skate, but kind of lacking
Overall I find these skates to be ok if you're a beginner. If you've done any substantial skating in the past, however, you'll probably feel they are a little lacking. On the good side of things, I found them fairly comfortable and they fit pretty true to size according to the foot length chart. I wear a 10.5 in Chuck Taylor's for reference and got these also in a 10.5. I maybe would have liked a half size larger, but the 10.5 was fine for my feet. I had never skated in a soft boot before, and I was pleasantly surprised by their performance. I was worried they might give too much but they really didn't. Some minor quibbles: I found it hard to tighten the top buckle snug enough. I'd prefer a ratchet style buckle. While I found the pull tightened laces to be sufficient for tightening, the little pocket for holding the pull and extra string didn't really work; the pull and extra string kept falling out. Larger issues: The wheels really don't roll very well. You can see this by spinning them with your hand. If you're a beginner, maybe that's not an issue. But with any experience you're probably going to want to gain a little speed which these aren't really great at. Also, these have a fixed frame. I found the frame position was a just off for where I'd be comfortable, and I'd prefer to be able to adjust it. You might find the frame is in a good position for your body, however. Also, the frame is made of plastic, so maybe not the most durable. I really think these are best suited for a beginner though, so, again, mayben not an issue depending on who you are.
A lot of skate for the money
My previous skates were a very cheap set from a discount store. I am also a 67 YO male, but I am very active. These are a lot of skate for the price. Very well made. I like the lacing/cinching system. At times I need to stop to give the pull strap a tug. I have very skinny ankles so getting the buckle latch tight enough is sometimes a challenge, but doable. Performance wise the skates are very smooth. The brake works well. Since I am also an alpine skier I make a lot of slalom-like turns and the skates are very responsive. I have used them for about 4 hours so far and the front wheels show very little signs of wear. I am very happy with the purchase.
Great skates at a great price. Don't hesitate
Got these after my old ones have ran their course and ironically I can't find them any more. Not a problem. These fit better for me anyway. I wear a 13 shoe and got these in a 13 and they fit perfectly. I'm used the the ratchet system so this one has one on the top and then a velcro strap at the apex, and then some sort of lacing that you just pull to tighten up and push a little button to release. I like this a lot as it's pretty quick but I will see how it holds up over time. For now I like it because It's a quick pull and it gets everything nice and snug. For the price I am very pleased with the performance. I've road on trails with lots of leaves and twigs and rolled right on through with no isues. Then I took it to a tennis court to test it there and it was as smooth as anything else. I should mention this is my first K2 as my previous brand was Roller Blade. Again, no complaints at this time. I'll update if anything changes.
Nice!
These skates were comfortable. The straps were easy to adjust and the boots had lots of room in the toe box. They were flexible enough yet still supported my ankles well. The wheels roll very smoothly.
