Super fast! K2 84 BOA skates
My wife Loves them they are super fast! Better than her brothers first pair of Brauer’s in the 80’s. She especially loves the BOA closure as it is super secure. #anniversarygift #winning
Not impressed
The top part of the boot provides no stability. It needs another buckle strap at the top. When tightening the lace with the turn knob, it tightens around the feet, not above the ankle. The frame for the wheels is aligned to force your feet to angle in, rather than a true straight alignment. Maybe good for beginners, but advanced and up will not like this role inward. The box did not come with tools to take the break off, and the nut is not the same as for the wheels. I cannot find a tool to remove the break, or instructions. It is not as simple as taking the wheel off as the break is attached to the frame. With the break on it makes cross-overs a little sloppy if you are a good cross-over skater. Forget backwards or tricks too with that break on. The boot “looks” nice, the wheels are adequately fast, but overall I do not recommend this skate for anyone over beginner level.
Odd sizing issues for an otherwise great skate!
The Good: These are great skates! The BOA setup is a total game changer, making tightening the boot on your foot a breeze including some mid-ride adjustments once your foot sinks into it a little more. The 84mm wheels do a good job riding around the street and the wheel base is just long enough to give you a good sense of stability without hindering the ability to pull moves like crossing over your feet and so forth. The offset of the base is perfect and I love the overall looks too! The Odd: Dear lord, who came up with the sizing, K2?! Here's a true story that'll make you scratch your head, I bought these for my wife and the K2 VO2 S 100 BOA Men's for myself (from a different store). My wife and I are typically 1/2 size apart with my feet being slightly bigger and wider. When the two pairs arrived, my wife's feet were swimming in these and mine were mega tight in mine, so after a couple minutes we had the idea of swapping between us and what do you know? The "women's" model is a perfect fit for a man's foot while the "men's" boot was perfectly sized for my wife. HA! We just ended up taking each other's skates, we're easy going like and perfectly happy with the arrangement since the faster skates went to the slower skater so it evens us out. The Bad: The brake on these sits in too low of an angle from the wheel which kinda sucks because you can't really stand on it with your full weight (used to do it with my previous Rollerblades), and compounded with the fact that the actual brake pad has the grip of charcoal it makes for r-e-a-l-l-y long braking distances if you're at speed. The angle is also not adjustable and being so low I also scrape it sideways every now and again when I pull sharp turns (like a slalom). The above might not be a problem for you if you're not super aggressive (which I am), I'm pretty sure my wife would have never noticed any of the angle issues, only the brake pad friction coefficient problem. OVERALL: Save the odd sizing, those are really excellent skates that are very comfortable, fast, stable and look great. Pricing is not cheap, but fair for the quality. The brake pad issue is pretty minor and can probably be solved.
Women’s size 8 is size 8
These run a little wide and are super comfortable.
