Peak Design  Universal Bar Mount

Twice my phone detached, once resulting in a cracked screen. Beware of the buttons depressing over bumps! To be fair, the mount is well made and works great if I attach it to my handlebars. Unfortunately, this takes up too much real estate and that leads to the unexpected problem of attach it to the stem. It fits beautifully and seems like the ideal solution… until bumps! With a phone attached, the entire mount begins to move toward the steerer tube that stick out of the stem. You can’t see this negligible movement until it’s too late. The mount never detaches from the stem, instead it slides just enough that it begins bouncing against the steerer tube in such small ways you can’t see it. Eventually the steerer tube depresses the release button and retaining clasp without you knowing it. When you hit a bump, the magnets are not strong enough to hold your phone with out the locking mechanism and your phone goes airborne. It had happened to me twice with two different types of iPhones. Once it fell directly under my rear tire and I cracked the screen rolling over it at speed. I didn’t know then how it happened. Today on a different bike with a different phone, the same thing happened. I was lucky enough to avoid the fallen phone, so just a couple gouges on the corners of my case (which protected a falling phone on asphalt beautifully) this time. All to say, without a way to lock the release mechanism, beware of where your buttons may migrate over time. I’ve learned my lesson this time. It is a bit difficult to show in the pictures, but if you look closely, you can see the steer tube begins pushing against the buttons as weight and bumps allow the amount to slide down the stem over a long and bumpy ride. With the phone retaining mechanism released, it’s just a matter of time before your phone can bounce off and there is no way to reel while your riding because your phone blocks visibility. :( Otherwise been a big fan of Peak Design equipment and their mobile gear.

I previously purchased the Our Front Bike Mount for my road bike. I bought a new gravel bike which has a unique handle bar shape that the Out Front would not fit. The Universal Bar Mount is the answer to my new bike and works fabulously!

Your Slimlink holder is the best out there. I have it attached to my new Samsung Z7 Flip phone case. But I need a simple solution to directly connect the Slimlink to my Capture holder for video, as your Mobile Creator Kit isn't the solution (eg those odd V arms). Or I need my Slimlink to directly attach to a GoPro style attachment (not ARC) to connect to my cycling vest. You need to create that after all of my research. Your Unversal Mount doesn't really work for attaching my Z7 to my bike handlebars - it moves to much especially for mtb and gravel riding (and having your handlebar mount only really works for road cyclists for video as riding on dirt is too harsh for image stabilization). I did figure out how to connect my Universal Mount to my USWE hydration vest, but it's not optimum. Again, create a "direct" Slimlink to Gopro mount (and not 1/4 mount either) and I'll buy it. I liked the bar mount... but I tend to do more jogging than cycling. So I made some modifications and installed my own belt clip from an old holster. It works well but I'm looking forward to the version that PD will design someday... hopefully.... I cut down the clip and drilled out screw holes to match the back plate. Now for the weather to improve to test it...

Bought few months ago. Realy simple to use. Totally meets expectations of its functionality. While filming shakes a little bit, need very smooth road in order to have the same video as filming with a mobile in my hand, but it is ubderstandable and still I love this product. No regrets.

Wish the length could be a bit longer, the modern bike handlebar is wider than the traditional. It got ruptured easily. This situation also has happened to many of my bike friends. I like the product a lot, but please to consider to have a longer length version!!!

Bought this to fit on my Electric Brompton for my daily commute to work. The mounting system works well with the Peak Design Case and makes the whole experience of attaching the phone so easy with confidence. And it still works well with my Apple MagSafe chargers at home! The form factor is so small it fits well within the folding envelope of the Brompton. Only downside is that it occasionally slips but that is quite expected of a rubber wrap Mount with a heavy oversized phone. A little cleaner to make sure the surfaces are clean & it should work well for many cycling sessions. Am seriously looking at getting the motorcycle Mount for my motorbike as well.

I purchased this to use on my bike - and it did not disappoint. I like that the strap is adjustable so that I can be moved between my bike and if I were to travel, I could bring it for whatever bike I rent! It is flexible enough that it fits around my front stem. I rode with my phone attached over the weekend and it didn't come loose! I kept checking in because I was worried (it's a new phone), but it was very secure. I also found it easy (after some practice) removing the phone from the holder. The swiveling functionality is also great because I can have my phone forward/portrait or landscape depending on what is needed.

We bought this a month ago for travel and use for both our electric scooters and bicycle. It's great for travel because you can pop it into any 2 wheeled rental and have a much more secure mount. This provides a new level of freedom when visiting a city since we don't trust ride shares built in mounts... If they even have a working one... Mount is really strong, doesn't budge over harsh pavement, and ability to rotate is awesome. It is also really small compared to other phone mounts I've tried and is aesthetically nice on my bike that I don't feel the need to take it off while taking photos of my bike.
