Great Bike, Faulty Bike Shop
Love the bike, it is exactly what I wanted. After picking up the bike I discover several scratches on the paint at the stem and down at the pedal. Having paid full price, I expect new quality, so I phoned REI Kennesaw where I got the bike and was told, no problem, bring it back and we’ll order a replacement. So I did. Last evening I picked up the replacement bike, which at first look seemed fine. Today I was going to take a ride and realized the front and rear brake levers are mounted backwards with the front brake being on the left and rear on the right. Then I noticed the hydraulic brake line which runs from the lever to the disc brake was run between the front fork and the tire, causing the tire to rub the “cable”. This is no good so I phone and spoke with the manager and will be returning yet another bicycle. This is my third bad experience with REI bike shops and I just can’t in good faith trust them anymore. Clearly their staff work in hast, potentially don’t really know about correct bike assembly, and it appears don’t really care anything about accepting responsibility for the potential for serious customer injury in the event of a failure. The best I can say is their return policy is generous and I am thankful for that. So, yes, I do recommend this Electra bike, but I’d suggest purchasing through a dealer with better trained personnel for their bike shop.
Not the same frame as other Townies
I love my Townie 7D so i decided to upgrade… This bike has a different frame and the seat sits closer to the handle bars which give you a more upright position when riding. I didn’t like the way it felt compared to “The Original.”
